Ok. Lots of pressure to sell, hard to establish a customer base, store layout changes constantly.
Jul 26, 2013 - Sales Associate in Springfield, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Pleasant-looking, safe work environment, good hours. However, the layout of the store changes every few days so it's hard to get a handle on where things are, especially if you only work part-time.
Cons
It's difficult to establish your own customer base if you're new and all repeat customers have been 'claimed.' The recordkeeping/payroll/cash register/training computer software was very glitchy and outdated. Must clean the store if you're on the closing shift.

Better retailer than most.
Feb 9, 2009 - Sales Associate in Seattle, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good basic training, excellent benefits (access to major medical for PT associates, amazing discount). Quality merchandise, commitment to the customer. Employees are empowered to help customers more than at many retailers. The company definitely promotes from within and recognizes top sellers. We have processes for getting ideas and suggestions to corporate that are acknowleged and ideas implemented receive compensation.
Cons
Dissatisfaction with individual managers. Policies and procedures change often and the staff don't always get proper training on the procedures. Store specials aren't always in the system, associates have to remember them and this can cause chaos at the cash wrap. Top sellers are excused on bad habits/poor work ethic. The bonus structure makes it difficult to earn commissions. Wasteful packaging items between distribution/stores.

Pros
There aren’t really any pros.
Cons
Extremely toxic work environment. There is blatant favoritism, and meetings are unproductive due to power struggles within leadership and below them as well. No work life balance, or flexibility with remote work as promised initially. This place is run like a toxic editorial magazine in the high fashion world however you are in a small town in Florida working for a mall brand. Culture is one of talking down those around you if they don’t fit the exact mold you expect them to. You have to read minds at times and don’t receive clear direction. Training is non existent unless you find someone to shadow and to ask questions on your own. Most teams are fully remote except for merchandising so it’s hard to even get things done with those teams. The company itself handles crisis situations pretty poorly (covid, hurricane). Would go elsewhere.

Thank you for taking the time to post a comment. We are quite surprised and disappointed that you did not enjoy working at Chico's FAS. We take great pride in creating a culture that fosters growth, development and work-life balance. Remote work and flexible work schedules are just 2 of the options that can be available to our associates. In addition, Chico's FAS has strong roots in the Ft. Myers community and actively participates in numerous charitable initiatives and events. Our COVID response program was extremely coordinated and successful. We also provided significant contributions and resources to the victims of Hurricane Ian. For several months post-Ian we housed the Red Cross and others on our campus and using our buildings to assist hurricane victims. If you would like more information about our COVID and Hurricane Ian responses please reach out to us at glassdoorfeedback@chicos.com. Thank you.

Chico's is a company that focuses on Relationships and is committed to being the Best Brand to work, learn and grow.
Oct 6, 2014 - District Manager in Syracuse, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Chico's has an amazing training and on-boarding program that really sets up new hires to be very successful. Chico's solicits feedback from their employees regularly to affect how we operate and how we improve the experiences for our customers and employees. Great benefits!
Cons
Not really a Con...However its important to know that Chico's is a Fashion Brand. You have to love fashion and stay in the know with style trends and fashion. Chico's is not a key item business and our customers really look to our employees for Style Advice so you really have to love fashion.

Unstable; Needs a lot of work; Tons of politics
Jul 24, 2017 - Senior Systems Analyst in Winder, GARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Easy job, not crazy hours, people seem to always be willing to help when help is needed.
Cons
Technology is not up to par whatsoever. It's dated, completely unstable and very unreliable. Upper technology teams do NOT fix issues with software in a timely manner, putting the Help Desk associates, store associates, and customers in a bind when things aren't working right, which is very very often. Unless you hound the other teams to fix the issues, they will let them linger and take their time. There is no urgency to get things done. Training for this position is not very good and you do not recieve all the tools to adequetly do your job. Communication is flawed and there seems to be a barrier there. Pay is not very good and it's hard to move up in your position due to the level of politics within the department. Often times, the wrong and undeserving people get the rare promotions. Help Desk management is poor and lacking. Asked to do WAY too much for the amount of pay you receive.

Bonus Pay taken away
Jun 3, 2018 - Sales Associate in Tucson, AZRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Co workers and some customers are fun
Cons
Chico’s changes their bonus compensation every few years which is a loss of income for sales associates. With fewer and fewer payroll hours, new employees are not getting the training they need. Much is left up to current sales staff for training and it is inconsistent at best. The customers are not getting the service they used to get because the store is understaffed on most days. This causes stress for the employees and very unhappy customers. Not as many chances to help customer build her wardrobe while running for so many customers at once. Chico’s expects more and more production with less payroll to support those expectations.

Lovely customers, 40% employee discount,
Cons
They will overwork anybody while grossly underpaying them. Little employee appreciation from upper management. Bonus program is much less than presented. More concerned investing in training programs to keep employees politically correct than investing in good employees!

Pros
Great company to work for. Good bonuses.
Cons
Training is crazy. And I’m not talking on floor training I’m talking about hours and hours of reading and test taking
