This company DOES NOT care about you.

    Pros

I get to wear all black to work and my store manager is amazing. You get 40% off full price and 10% off clearance, not that great.

    Cons

You do not get rewarded for trying harder than someone else, in fact people who work less hours get more of a bonus ($1.75 for 36 hrs vs $72 for 12) which screws closing and opening managers big time since there is no traffic during those hours. Their 'incentives and contests' only get you 'rewards' like getting to buy something from them for less money, yay! Upper management keeps enforcing rules that are the same for every boutique no matter what volume they are. There is absolutely no regard for the employees' well-being. My store has a piece of equipment that is dangerous and it is only a matter of time until someone hurts themselves. When we submitted a request to replace it, they said it's an item that you get one of. If you work here you will feel like you don't matter to anyone but your own team, which will beat you down, get you miserable and force you to get a better paying job no matter how much you love the profession.

    Pros

The stores have great product that is current with the fashion trends and economical for what you get! Love the product.

    Cons

Upper Management micro manage every aspect of the job. Consider themselves' the employer of choice,' but we are told to be thankful we have a job in this economic time. Don't get me wrong I am very thankful. Upper management is not objective with hiring friends rather then the right person for the job. Turnover is very high and would wonder who is leading that turn and why are good people leaving an organization that truly can be the best all around company to work for with great product and great people........?

Unrealistic expectations with no support from upper mangement

    Pros

Store team were great to work with and the majority of the customers were fantastic.

    Cons

Unrealistic workloads with no payroll to support No support in hiring, so many stores are in crisis mode, the pay rates are low and the incentive is' a great place to learn and grow'? Full time managers lose PTO because they are understaffed and can't take time off No Covid pay, You are out of luck if you don't have PTO to use Upper management is not supportive and just wants us to 'gumby' our way through all of this. Unrealistic plans with not enough in store merchandise to sell No support from DM's and you are lucky if your email or call is responded to Pay for assistant managers have them jumping ship to other companies that pay a living wage Stress

Great Place To Work, Learn, and Grow!!

    Pros

The Company has adapted well to a changing and unpredictable retail market. Great work-life balance with flexible scheduling. Fun job with a loyal customer base. There is an atmosphere of teamwork in the store and the staff genuinely care about one another and our customers. The business model of fostering relationships and providing individual service is wonderful! It’s a high-energy, dynamic job that never gets boring. Upper management is approachable and very hands-on.

    Cons

Unless you’re in a large metro area with several stores there’s not an abundance of opportunity for advancement if you aren’t willing to move. Bonus plans don’t have adequate incentive for associates.

    Associate Relations Manager

Thank you for such a thorough and thoughtful five-star review! The global pandemic has called all of us to adapt to a new work environment. We are glad to know you have felt supported by the company through all the recent changes. We are also pleased to hear that you have a such a great relationship with your fellow associates, leadership and customers. As you may know, we have recently implemented a new incentive program for our associates in hopes that our teams can maximize their opportunity for multiple bonuses a year. You have pointed out a few topics that we will be sure to pass to leadership for further consideration. If you have specific suggestions you would like to share with the company, please email us at GlassdoorFeedback@chicos.com.

    Disappointing Management Position

    Jun 29, 2017 - Boutique Management

    Business Outlook

    Pros

The customers come in to buy, not just to look.

    Cons

Top down directives. Upper management pretends to listen to sales teams' feedback but then they don't. Instead they say 'control only what you can control and don't worry about the rest.' Technology inadequate for what they expect sales teams to do. Way too many promotions and coupons that are confusing for the customers and the teams. Less and less merchandise that appeals to over-40 customers. Much less creative merchandise than Chico's used to offer. Customers complain often that they're not excited about the merchandise.

    Pros

Upbeat place to work and if you are a sales associate you make good money on commission. Its nice to come into work around 9:30 or 2:00 somedays!

    Cons

Employees tended to get catty about who made which sale and unrealistic sales goals by upper management. Also the advice management gives you to sell clothes is corny and the fashion advice is not so great when we are putting the displays together.

One of the reasons I loved working at 2 of the brands in the Chico Fas company is because I believed and still believe in the products. I still promote the stores and wear their intimate apparel and clothes.

    Cons

The upper management communication as well as keeping a unity within each store and between stores needs some solidifying

    Pros

Discount on apparel. Flexibility in scheduling.

    Cons

Hourly pay is not commensurate with amount of work I put in. Unreasonable expectations of upper management such as having the store open on Easter and scheduling stage set on Mother's Day. Some of the merchandise is not constructed well or of good materials.

    Pros

Amenities on campus is all I can say.......on site gym, health clinic, several cafes, child care center.

    Cons

This company is good for getting experience in the CORPORATE world and learning how to navigate the maze of dealing with the political absurdity which abounds throughout most departments. This is why I say, get in, learn as much as you can about the business and about dealing with 'yesing' the 'higher ups' and then move on to greener pastures where upper management will actually appreciate all of the hard work and time you put in to your career. Don't try to get promoted into upper management - 75% will be brought in from outside the company. There will be a couple 'token' upper management promotions to prove they are 'A GREAT PLACE TO WORK'. (wink, wink) Three times a survey was given to us for this GPTW (Great Place to Work) status and each time the results were shared with us and each dept was asked what they could do to improve the results......upper execs in several areas would rather stick their head in the sand and not hear what is really going on in the lower ranks be
