I worked at Chihuly Studio full-time

    Pros

I can't thin of one positive thing to say about working there. I am tired of the Chihuly glass design shtick, it's over 20 years old now. It got one star because the software said I had to give it at least one.

    Cons

I met two people there that I really enjoyed. Everyone else was pretty horrible. It's like being trapped in a room with raptors. Everyone is in it for himself. No one helps you. On the first day my supervisor tried to get me in trouble by trying to delete a huge amount of files from the server. He felt threatened by my skill set (this all came out later). I would like to say this was unusual, but it was very typical. Avoid this place like ebola.

    Advice to Management

    Like they would listen.

    Pros

If you are interested in art, glass art in particular, you might appreciate working here...for a while.

    Cons

    • Sycophantic work culture
    • Lots of egos
    • The place is a revolving door.
    • For a "creative" workplace, there seems to be no room for innovation or ideas.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the staff, they have experience and expertise to contribute.

I worked at Chihuly Studio full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

One of the world's few completely self-contained art studios that creates, produces and installs contemporary art in both public and private settings.

    Cons

As with most creative organizations, clash of ideas and egos is to be expected; at Chihuly that dynamic is heightened by the sometimes contrary objectives of the staff and family.

    Advice to Management

Focus on taking care of the staff with as much or greater level of concern as you do of the clients.

I worked at Chihuly Studio as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The studio produces interesting and beautiful glass pieces. The environment is nice, and the staff are friendly. On your first day they'll give you a tour of the studio.

    Cons

You'll work hard, and at the end of your project they'll take your product and you'll never be paid.

    Advice to Management

Be honest if you're not willing to pay your workers, or you want to lower the rates for the projects you hire freelance workers to do.
