I have been working at Child Care Associates full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I love being effective in children's lives. I love challenges. I believe impossible is impossible because anything you apply yourself to it will make a difference.

    Cons

I feel the teachers should be more concerned about the children's future.

    Advice to Management

The core exam that I passed was in Special Education (EC-12) and I believe people should be considered for this job only if they have a heart and perserverance.

I worked at Child Care Associates (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Benefits,Friendly CO - Workers, Very warm facility, Great food. Smart, creative teachers, very clean environment. Two play grounds to separates, toddlers and infants from children 3 years and up.

    Cons

Assistant Management members take much down time. Generally short handed. Art supplies are ok but could be better as in better quality.

    Advice to Management

Please realize when you are away from Center that your next in charge usually turns off the light in the office and sleeps. Consider a class with 1/2 non english language speaking students that a Bilingual set up is much needed.

    Pros

The paycheck I received provided for a place to stay, food to eat, and other small necessities. I met some wonderful ladies and parents who I thoroughly enjoyed working with and who I will maintain contact with.

    Cons

Lack of support for managerial staff. Incompetent leaders who are not knowledgeable of how to lead a group of managers. Poor wages, no raise for the time I was there. You have to be in a clique with the higher management to get things you want. Other managers were favored. Policies written was a joke, never followed. Everything was hush, hush.

    Advice to Management

Support the people who support the agency. Form a cohesive culture that supports everyone from the smallest of positions to the biggest.

    Pros

I have the chance to help mold and nurture my wonderful nephews and nieces for the past seven years.

    Cons

Downside side I think would be I have missed a lot of whats going on in the work force. Now that I am going back into to workforce it feels like I am starting all over again.

I worked at Child Care Associates full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good. Hours are okay.

    Cons

Agency is backwards at some of the things they do.

    Advice to Management

Everyone should be kept up on what is going on within the organization.

    Pros

The kids are always characters and depending on what facility you're at, it can be a comfortable workplace.

    Cons

    Everything else.

-Pay is ridiculously low. In-N-Out burger makes more money.
-Management mostly consists of devil women who have no consideration for their employees and gossip like 14 year olds.
-Trainings are completely meaningless and require travel for information that could be sent to you in an email
-Staff in general has a petty gossip issue
-Food is supposed to be healthy for the kids, but consists of the same food being rotated on a 2 week cycle, that comes out of bulk cans of preservatives and freezer bags, and tons of salt and butter. (I gained 3 consistent pounds working there, even trying to avoid the meals, which you can't because it's part of the curriculum)
-Job culture is heeeeaaavily Christian. I'm personally not Christian, and a lot of the parents aren't either. To me, embedding that into the classroom environment seems wrong and uncalled for. It's not a Christian based company (it doesn't state that anywhere), I don't think that should be so heavily influenced around the kids. They'll make that choice when they're older and work with that with their parents.

    Advice to Management

Get it together. Give your employees more money for the work they're doing so they stop leaving all the time, and work out your issues with accepting mentally handicapped kids. None of the teachers are trained in handling kids of that magnitude, so maybe putting two in a classroom of 15 or so, with 1-2 teachers is not a smart choice.

Next time when closing schools down go and check out the schools in mind first. Sometimes your first thought may not be the best.
