I have been working at Child Care Services Association

    Pros

In my department, there is a tight-knit team of individuals who work together to accomplish our common goals. We share tasks, we brainstorm about how to solve problems together, and we are open and able to talk to one another whenever a conflict arises. Our team has great camaraderie. I have seen other teams like ours in the same organization, and I think our senior management is adept and skilled at growing teams of...

    Cons

As in any nonprofit, we are dependent on our grants and funders and it can get stressful when our grantors are under financial strain from budget changes. Also, it's difficult to keep the community informed about our services and it's hard to get buy-in from providers, even though we provide them a valuable service for free.

    Advice to Management

I would ask them to give us a little more leeway in the way we serve our communities so that we can serve both our clients and the providers we serve, in the most helpful and efficient way possible.

I have been working at Child Care Services Association full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

CCSA has several projects that attract high-quality employees, dedicated to the mission of helping families and children access high-quality child care, as well as to help child care providers in the quest to stay abreast of common best practices and to manage their own careers in such a way that they, children and families are all happy.

    Cons

The paperwork is antiquated and paper-based rather than electronically submitted; forms for HR and accounting are cumbersome and confusing. Some of the databases need updating and the web site is not easily navigated by every group of clients. Being a nonprofit, funding for computer and office furnishing upgrades are few and far between, so some of the interior infrastructure is deteriorating and cannot be replaced. ...

    Advice to Management

Update the office equipment including chairs and copiers/printers; simplify forms so that they are not as cumbersome, time-consuming and onerous to get done in a timely fashion. UPDATE THE WEBSITE!

      Pros

Overall this is a close knit working environment and the President seems to really care about making child care affordable to its clients.

      Cons

Since this is a non-profit raises are few and far between.
