    Pros

learn alot of bed side skills

    Cons

Lack of promotions or room to grow. Definitely nurse driven hospital. Management could do better to make their employee's feel like they do a great job.

I worked at Children's Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits- great medical if you choose the right plan. Reasonable cost if you complete health assessment.
They have several activities that recognize staff and show appreciation.

    Cons

Salary is not comparable to the current market. Training was horrible- disorganized and several people didn't know the answers to staff questions. Promotions are based on who you know and how well you are like instead of being based on experience, knowledge, and skills. HR is not on the employees side and do not assist when staff has complaints or concerns.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Take into consideration their concerns and ideas. Adjust salary to be more competitive with the current market.

I have been working at Children's Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great physicians who really care about the patients.

    Cons

The leadership, which includes Managers, Directors, and the MANY VP's are all incompetent and really don't know what they are doing. The outreach/physician relations department is a complete mess! The leadership in this department is inadequate, ineffective, and lack any and all moral qualities.

    Advice to Management

Look at the departments where employees are fleeing and trying to get out as soon as possible.

I have been working at Children's Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Generally okay place if you don't mind being a cog but if you really want to make a difference this is not the best place, too stuck on "this is how we have always done it" mentality. Decent pto accrual, does count as public service so student loan payoff opportunities if you can last that long. Decent 401k & 403b.

    Cons

Not many career advancement opportunities, pay & benefits aren't great, rigid hospital schedule so not a great work/life balance, poor goal based raises, overall really stressful environment with little incentive. Will lose your position if out for medical reasons longer than FMLA allows. Too corporate, busy work annual goals on top of regular duties, nothing comes out of daily stand ups or quarterly rounding & rarely anything improving comes of them mostly a gripe fest. Overly praising for doing regular job duties and too much brown nose worshipping. Above & beyond is always expected but only for a pat on the back then it is expected. Basically a hen house; things might be better in 5-10 years once older generation has retired or full automation takes over.

    Advice to Management

Stop cutting employee benefits because it looks good on paper. Decreased shift differential & poor health insurance is not made up for with periodic free t-shirts, food and knowing we are making a difference in a child's life. Great talent requires more incentive than this to stick around for the long haul. Show your employees you appreciate them with something more substantial i.e. Better salaries, shift diff, raises & bonuses or better schedules and more PTO.

I have been working at Children's Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of talented professionals to work with around the hospital, helping make children's lives better. The people I work with give their all to do a great job.

    Cons

Manager who over works you giving so much to do that it can not be completed in a normal work day and required staying late and then wants you there on time in the morning and says giving positive feedback is not her job.

    Advice to Management

When you see a manager is berating employees to the point that they are quitting repeatedly and you do not fix the problem then you are part of the problem. Over 10 talented therapists and nurses have left because of one abusive manager. She continues to be protected at the expense of having what could be an excellent program. But, due to so much turn over it struggles. It is not fair to the children who need a good program or the employees.
