      Grateful for the experience!

      Pros

Staff are really vested in the mission to make life better for children. I loved seeing the patients and their families. I got a sense of fulfillment in knowing that my work helped make a lasting impact and provided future treatment options for sick children. I loved my department and my leadership was amazing!

      Cons

At times it took a great deal of effort to get approvals, or things done. It's a large hospital and with it comes a certain degree of bureaucracy/ red-tape. But was not bad in my department.

      Management needs work

      Pros

The mission is to make life better for children and most strive to do that. Pay is good.

      Cons

Run like a business and not a hospital. Managers are not nurses and have no clue how to care for patients. Costs are very high compared to other facilities across the country. Benefits are expensive. High turnover. Management is awful. Corporate structure is confusing - too many “leaders” with different visions

      Pros

Great place to work! The culture of the hospital is truly making life better for children.

      Cons

None! Benefits aren't great and insurance costs are high but thats the only downside.

It is a great first job, with limited room for growth professionally.

      Pros

If you can get into Children's, your resume will be highly impressive and people will respect your work. Being in the foundation doing development (fundraising), there is great leadership and the culture is shifting to keep up with the times. There is a strong sense of job security and compensation is strong for the amount of work put out. Good work life balance and incredible work being done to make life better for Children.

      Cons

There are too many people that work here -- management needs to cut out the old and bring in new. There is also not a lot of room to move up within the organization unless you leave and go somewhere else, then to come back.

      Pros

      Making life better for children

      Cons

Leadership extremely heavy on top and they tend to either lay off underlings or cut their title to a lower pay grade to pay you less money

      Pros

Children's has a great mission to make life better for children. It has great people who want to make a difference.

      Cons

Leadership is very disconnected. Very top heavy and leaders have lost touch with the mission. It's all business and many leaders lack integrity especially at the Irving health plan location. It's do as I say not as I do. Use fear tactics to deal with employees.

      Pros

I haven't seen much innovation in the healthcare industry, but Children's Health has surprised me. They can think outside the box when it comes to dealing with employees. They have a good focus on their mission, basically they do what they say the do - make life better for children.

      Cons

By being innovative in their business model, sometimes the project does not turn out the way they expected it to. Some of the businesses the organization tries has adverse effects on the rest of the business. It can cause distractions.
