    Looks great on a resume

    Oct 21, 2022 - Clinical Specialist

    Business Outlook

    Pros

-CHOA is a well known company that serves the entire region, so it looks great on a resume -has great benefits and tons of locations to choose from -a lot of cutting edge practices come out of the company and a lot of extremely well renowned people work in almost all fields

    Cons

-pay is not the highest compared to similar positions at other companies because it is a non-profit -In my department, we have felt that managers in a clinical setting don't seem to have a lot of experience or don't enjoy doing standard managerial tasks, so a lot of times we feel our voices are not heard or don't matter. It has caused tension among peers and across levels This is likely an isolated issue bit I suspect others in the field and at the company have felt similar workplace struggles.

    Management isn't taking Covid-19 seriously...

    Aug 2, 2020 - Support

    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

It's a great place to work...the benefits offered are good. Most of the employees are nice, and have a genuine concern for each other.

    Cons

Management has no concern for the well-being of the employees. In leiu of Covid-19...employees have to practically BEG to work from home. Apparently, employee safety doesn't take precedence over generating income.

    Pros

Love children, great people to work with who share our values in caring for children & families. Administration works to provide a great organization & continually look for ways to provide new benefits to all employees. Retention of employees is important to organization & long term employees receive special recognition on their anniversaries at 5 yr increments.

    Cons

Always a shortage of inpatient beds & shortage of parking.

    Wouldn't ever trade my job!

    Feb 2, 2020 - Patient Care Technician
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Some of the best reasons to work at CHOA include the community within. The entire network at CHOA really feels like home and there's a special relationship you form with the families you work with. The benefits are great and I wouldn't want to call anywhere else 'home'.

    Cons

It can be difficult to get a job at CHOA without a reference. The location is troublesome at times as well due to the traffic.

    Not What I Expected

    May 30, 2020 - Patient Account Representative

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Great health insurance and retirement benefits

    Cons

This department is unorganized and makes the job unnecessarily difficult. You'd be better off applying for a job in a different department or another company..

    Overall thumbs WAY down

Jul 30, 2020 - Coordinator in Atlanta, GA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Good mission. Great benefits and time off.

    Cons

Zero respect for employees. Concerns fall on deaf ears. No opportunities for advancement or professional development. Company's response to COVID-19 has been completely unacceptable. Employees are required to be in the office even has cases in Georgia rise. No work-life balance. Too much emphasis on physical wellness and not enough on mental well-being. Employees need work-life balance, not to be shamed for not running a company 5K. In closing, CHOA is moving forward with building a multi-billion dollar new hospital in the middle of a pandemic while laying off and furloughing hundreds of employees.
