    I worked at Children's Home + Aid full-time

    Pros

    Children's Home + Aid does some amazing work and has some really wonderful programs.

    Cons

    It is a very hostile work environment. Not pleasant to be in. There are not nice people working in upper management.

    Advice to Management

    Pay attention to the high turnover rate. Put more energy into the work and not creating drama.

    I worked at Children's Home + Aid full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    I liked the vast majority of my coworkers a lot. Building relationships with kids, biological parents, and foster parents was mostly rewarding.

    Cons

    There is a high turnover rate at this agency. Everyone is overworked and underpaid. DCFS does not want to spend any money on services for kids who so desperately need them. If you work here in a case management position, expect daily stress with little support for upper management. The culture can be a bit weird - people will sometimes get 'thrown under the bus' so to speak, so everyone is obsessed with creating paper trails to prove that they are doing what they are supposed to be doing.

    Some of the foster parents were legitimately TERRIBLE PEOPLE who were only in it for the money.

    Advice to Management

    Nobody feels valued at this agency, which is why it's so easy to leave and there is such a high turnover rate. Show your employees they are valued by raising pay. People with full time jobs should not be struggling to get by. Don't just license anyone who wants to be a foster parent! There should be better efforts made to recruit potential foster parents because some of the ones used by the agency are literal human trash.

    I worked at Children's Home + Aid full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    * Flexible Schedule
    * 401K Contribution
    * Excellent Benefits (medical, vision, dental)
    * Excellent support from most supervisors

    Cons

    * Poor pay for the number of hours they expect their staff to work.
    * High turnover (as a result of poor pay)

    Advice to Management

    If you paid your workers what they are worth, the revolving door wouldn't be so bad. Workers leave not because of the Agency, but because of the pay. There is no reason for a CEO to be making so much more than the regional management teams.
