I worked at Children's Hospital Colorado full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The caring people from the cleaning staff to those who work on the business side and everyone who has direct contact with a patient or his/her family.

    Cons

New management seems to care more about the dollars than maintaining a caring environment where the nurses are recognized via Magnet Nursing recognition, & the UPI doctors continually help the hospital achieve it's ongoing status as one if the best Children's hospitals in the country.

    Advice to Management

Allow the staff the training it needs to improve performance & process.

I worked at Children's Hospital Colorado full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people truly care about the work they do and caring for children. Which promotes a sense of loyalty to the organization and the patients.

    Cons

Salary for non-RN's is extremely poor and not at market rate at all. Other facilities compensate techs with experience, childrens does not. Even with "market rate adjustments" I as a tech with over a decade of experience was making less than a dollar more an hour than a new grad tech.

    Advice to Management

Bring back weekend package, fair merit increases. Show your employees that you do in fact value them. Most of them don't leave because they love childrens and pediatrics. Show them appreciation for that.

    Pros

    Top-notch physician-scholars and a beautiful facility.

    Cons

    Too much petty personal politics.

    Advice to Management

It's embarrassing that we still have to talk about how not to be an a$$$hole in the workplace, but it seems that there are still a good number of individuals who believe that possessing an M.D. grants one immunity from personal accountability. Maybe you don't care what people around you think of you -- well, perhaps you don't care what those without M.D.s think - but just remember that your self-righteous attitude comes at a price. Want to leave a legacy behind when you leave? Want people to rally behind you when the chips are down? Check yourself before you wreck yourself. Because people don't forget who has been kind and who has been cruel, and people talk. They talk a lot. And they talk a lot for a very, very long time.

    I worked at Children's Hospital Colorado full-time

    Pros

good benefits, a lot of small perks like free rtd and discounts throughout state.

    Cons

Uneducated and inexperienced management on psych unit who think they are being cutting edge, however it is borderline abuse. Also money and ratings are key here. The hospital accepts patients with the "right" insurances, often leading to helping out the worried well instead of those who really need help.

    Advice to Management

    Listen
