I have been working at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Employees matter at Children's Mercy. They take very good care of those who choose to work for them. Benefits are top notch and they also offer education reimbursement. Overall, a great place to work--no matter which department you choose. Very low drama--overly dramatic people are either "coached up or coached out"--

    Cons

There are no cons. Sometimes it's hard to get your foot in the door--but just keep applying. It's worth it.

    Advice to Management

Kindness, respect, fairness--all qualities that matter. I've always had this no matter which department I've worked for.

I have been working at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Magnet status is not a dog and pony show here - the values are truly embedded and lived out. Bedside nurses are valued, respected, and included in decision-making from individual patient care to administrative decisions. Academic pediatric medicine is strongly valued. There are endless opportunities to learn and develop your career. You will be pushed in a positive way to give care that is cutting-edge and among the best in the country. Tons of nursing support for you at the bedside: strong staffing (far above average KC hospitals) with lots of resource nurses, charge nurses, nurse educators, and APRN's to support your practice. Dedicated unit clerks that aren't continually "pulled" from the unit. Great relationship between nursing and residents/attending.

    Cons

You'll probably complain only if you want to settle for mediocrity and are not motivated to develop your practice and career.
