I worked at Children's Services Council of Palm Beach County as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some of the best reasons to work at Children's Services Council of Broward County was the beauty of the building created to work in. Super high sealings and new fixtures make the environment so wonderful !

    Cons

Some of the worst reasons to work at Children's Services Council of Broward County is that they didnt look out for team comradery.. even though they have great resources the expenditure on employees seemed slight.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be to look to how internal staff can be recognized and appreciation shown for all regularly.

I worked at Children's Services Council of Palm Beach County full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay. Excellent experience. Building is beautiful.

    Cons

Organization changes course often - you may have been working years on a project, only for it to be nixed due to a decision at one exec. meeting. Tense culture - lots of layoffs in 2011 and threat of being voted out - whole departments let go and services outsourced. Let a lot of good people go. Took advice of consultant on who to let go - some people railroaded and bullied out by consultant.

    Advice to Management

Please have some consistency. Don't let go of good people - get ALL the facts first.

    Pros

Great benefits. Can't beat the retirement and time off. Flexible schedule.

    Cons

Circular conversations based on academia, not real world.

    Advice to Management

Let things settle before changing and uprooting everything.

    Pros

Lots of opportunities for professional growth and development. Great work environment and camaraderie among coworkers. Access to training. Opportunities to work on challenging projects.

    Cons

Be prepared to work hard. Also, be prepared for change. This organization is focused on becoming a leader in the field and frequently re-focuses to achieve its goals.

    Advice to Management

Continue to communicate clearly about change and stay focused on the long-term goals. Be sure to encourage work/life balance in employees.

  5. "Mediocre place to work with unfocused expectations."

    Pros

Benefits are great. Organization is small so there are lots of opportunities to interact with others.

    Cons

Limited room for advancement. Some supervisors block promotional opportunities. Organization frequently changing it's focus making it appear haphazard and unorganized.

    Advice to Management

Care more about employees and the work in the community. Work is detached without significant hands on services. Stop contracting and in house the work.
