I worked at Chili's Grill and Bar full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some of the people that work for the company really try to adhere to the Business Model of ERJ Dining or Chili's

    Cons

There are too many to list them all but the majority of upper management are hypocritical and will say one thing to your face and then when their boss is touring with them, they will act as if they agree with all directives. Upper management can often let their tempers get the best of them and the company uses religion to cover up the many character flaws or its people which include blaming those down the management team structure, a lack of knowledge on what it means to run a restaurant leading to ridiculous expectations that are used subjectively at every store depending on how much upper management gets along with that Management Team or how much money they make for those above them. There is a lack of respect for tenure and it actually tends to harm a lot of middle management because they will find a reason to replace you if you are making too much money. The company has a lack of understanding of the communities it serves and holds all restaurants to the same goals in turnover regardless of the workforce available to the area. Retaliation often occurs in this company keeping its employees to present their true problems and feelings. Assistant managers are in and out of the stores almost as much as the hourly employees because the training program is not holding everyone to the same level of accountability causing the stores to be short staffed so much so that everyone is expected to travel to guest manage at stores that are up to 80 miles from their home.

    Advice to Management

Follow your Inverted Pyramid, Don't be naive to think that your Regional Managers are all doing their jobs with the morals and ethics that The person who started this once great company expects of his employees. Stop sweeping problems under the rug by moving managers from one store where they create an issue to another store thinking that the person will change. Take harassment, both sexual and verbal, seriously and understand that it occurs in the restaurants today as I type by a number of managers including your training stores.

I worked at Chili's Grill and Bar part-time

    Pros

    Free meal a day.

    Cons

Some of them are atrocious workers to be around. Was yelled at by a co worker in front of all kitchen staff and management did nothing about it. Long hours sometimes an 8 hour shift with a supposed "15 minute break" which sometimes was overlooked. Hours of rolling napkins in the back area with flies, dirty water all over the floor and sometimes could not get a chair to sit down. So standing for an 8 hour shift, rolling napkins, staring at a wall. Interview went well though.

    Advice to Management

Care more about your staff and equality. Work harassment is a real thing.

I worked at Chili's Grill and Bar part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun coworkers and thats about it

    Cons

Chili's restaurants are very understaffed, there would only be two hosts on weekends and one To-Go. Sometimes only one host, which is way too much work for one/two people. Other restaurants have 5 hosts. Hosts also have to bus tables while trying to seat tables at the same time because Chilis doesn't have bussers.

    Advice to Management

Get and pay quality team members. Have manager's manage, not physically kill themselves. The new bonus structure is bogus.
