I worked at Chili's Grill and Bar full-time

    Pros

Some great people to work with

    Cons

Can't get out of their own way, too many Rollouts, treat people like disposable asset instead of humans, have great culture on paper only

    Advice to Management

Stop treating team members like faceless names on a report

I worked at Chili's Grill and Bar full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Hours available usually, some new friends, good money in the busy season, opportunities to move to different positions in certain restaurants, flexibility to pick up shifts at other stores.

    Cons

Inconsistent income, inflexible management, management has clear favorites and if you aren't one, then good luck. Managers only care about Intent To Return surveys.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites. Yes, there are natural friendships between managers and team members, but when team members get away with clear bullying because they're buddies with the managers and go out drinking with them, it creates a hostile work environment.

I have been working at Chili's Grill and Bar full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good money for good work I've been with chilis for two years and have enough to support me and my family.

    Cons

Management cares more about the surveys intent to return. Schedules meeting for people below 75% and doesn't allow them to clock in. Also can be taken off schedule for low survey numbers. Really hard to keep above 75% when a 5 stars is 100% 4 is 0% and anything below brings you to negatives. This company is all about numbers.

    Advice to Management

Schedule people on skill instead of their numbers.

I worked at Chili's Grill and Bar part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Business fluctuates and has diverse consumers. This was a great first job but never would recommend this job as a long term thing.

    Cons

Coworkers are a pain. I had to frequently go to multiple people for a simple answer and management is as reliable as the unethical coworkers.

    Advice to Management

    Be more professional.

I worked at Chili's Grill and Bar full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I loved my coworkers well most of these anyways .. you also get to wear jeans to work which is always cool

    Cons

The place is totally a mess there is no communication and the mangers just let it go... 45 mins on a ticket is average
.. I have worked in restaurants my whole life and this is by far the worst !

    Advice to Management

Get more organized, get mangers in your store who care and want things to run smoothly

I have been working at Chili's Grill and Bar part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

When the money is good, it's really good. The schedule is pretty flexible. You can easily drop & pick up shifts through the HotSchedules App. Good discount. Company outings such as softball games, basketball games, soccer games, etc.

    Cons

MANAGEMENT! Very pushy with ITR (guest Intent To Return). If your ITR is low (even if you're able to balance 5+ tables) they cut your hours A LOT!
There is so much side work expected of from the servers & management expects it to be done fairly quick.
Guests that can either make or break your spirit.
Having no food runners or bussers can make it tough, especially on weekends when we're so slammed that we don't have time to be miracle workers.
Management worries so much about labor so most days we'll have 3 servers running the entire floor.

    Very corporate.

    Advice to Management

Worry more about the quality of the work environment for your staff. If you see your servers are struggling OFFER TO HELP! Don't tell them that it's "their job".
Don't worry so much about labor. You're making more than enough money to pay your staff plus get your bonuses at the end of the quarter. Lighten the load during the time on the floor & maybe your servers would be able to give better service.

    Advice to Management

Don't overwork your good workers and after only give bad workers more hours

    Pros

Met some of the best people I know while working at Chili's.

    Cons

The brand is very confused. It is not sure what is wants to be to it's consumers. Working in operations, and then to upper management, there was a stark contrast in reality as to what was expected from the operators. The parameters that are given vs what is expected is just not realistic. Managers would be crying daily because the stress that would be placed on their shoulders was too high. The menu is ridiculously large and impossible to execute properly.

    Advice to Management

Figure out what kind of restaurant you want to be. Listen to your operators honest feedback. Labor parameters are just too tight to operate a menu with 120 items. The fact that the menu cannot be executed properly and timely is why you are losing guests. And guess what....Bussers help keep your restaurants clean at very minimal cost. Big mistake to eliminate them.
