I have been working at Choice Hotels full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lot of lip service about great quality of work life balance. Supposidly great technology but only for the parent company Choice Advantage. A food truck every 2 weeks. Every now and then there are some team events. Every now and then means every 6 months. SkyTouch's PMS is fantastic. Leadership at SkyTouch is :LowTouch" after they fired the only team that new what to do.

    Cons

There are not enough spaces to speak of the cons. Basically, SkyTouch is out of touch. Wheels are falling off. I love CHOICE Hotels but the leadership of SkyTouch is dismall. SkyTouch 's PMS can do so well. WHY DID YOU FIRE THE LEADERSHIP TEAM THAT KNEW HOW TO TURN SKY TOUCH AROUND ! What is wrong with you folks Choice !!!. What's left is not SkyTouch - HellTouch

    Advice to Management

Please remove the two or three remaining original executives at SkyTouch - ALL OF THEM and get back in touch. Choice let go of the best of the best in their rounds of layoffs. What's left in terms of leadership is dismall. Come on Choice bring the best back ! Or simply shut SkyTouch down for good. What you have there now in terms of executives are the ones that drove Sky to Ground

I worked at Choice Hotels full-time

    Pros

They have recently done a total revamp of the brand itself. The improvements make any of the franchises in the brand run more smooth.

    Cons

The revamp is very expensive and may make it difficult for the business owners to do. Also the new penalty system is like they want you to fail.

    Advice to Management

Keep your head up and try and pick renovations that will please the guests first.

I have been working at Choice Hotels full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Managers are very focused on development of their reports, which is a welcome change. There is a strong focus on training people up within the company itself. Internal moves are common. Small size means tons of great chances to influence the organization and dip your toes into new things. Great place to learn and develop as a professional.

    Cons

Sometimes communication/organization is a bit too informal/confused. They're working on this, though.

    Advice to Management

Centralize a little bit more; it'll make things run smoother.

    Pros

Best Happy hours and co-workers - Honestly is a easy :)

    Cons

Choice will bring you in and make you feel like family - until they have to fire due to failed projects with AWS where their MAIN CTO leaves the company. HR is the worst when you feel safe, you meet the team to lie to please Senior Director's and again lie to where half the IT company leaves... In 2016 Choice (Senior Director and HR) fired the team and pretended to know the team, yet was let go as well. Choice is the worst company to work for, why, it's like given an award, then you let go stating it was not you it was us.

    Advice to Management

AH pay attention and say those you know are worth it, rather keeping your title - it's more difficult to fight, rather sneak away.....

I have been working at Choice Hotels full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good entry level jobs for recent college grads (low pay) or internship positions (low pay and project work not handled by management) or contract jobs for anyone from India or Pakistan looking for technical experience and work visa sponsorship.

    Cons

Chaotic work place. Egos get in the way of productivity. People hired at senior level positions with no expertise in that subject matter. Little to no employee recognition. No employee incentive or bonus plan. Overworked, underpaid. Having to deal with a clique and kiss up to your boss environment is demoralizing and dehumanizing. Fear not knowing who is going to get fired next. Gossipy and backstabbing. Can't trust anyone. Best to keep your mouth shout and head down if you want to keep your job. Remember to smile and pretend all is okay and not make waves to survive. People need their jobs to support their families and pay their bills. They should not have to put up with this type of nonsense until something else better comes along.

    Advice to Management

Get real and look at your senior level management structure and evaluate them on your company principles and culture. Are they truly a good fit. Perhaps, someone can go undercover and see how the line employees at the corporate office in Phoenix really operates and work with one another.
