I worked at Choice Hotels full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Comradery within developer groups was solid.
I felt that my skills as a developer improved significantly
I was treated well, and though I was one of the youngest, I felt that my opinions were influential and respected by the rest of the development team.

    Cons

Higher-ups were distant and somewhat removed from day to day.
There was a bit of a "us and them" thing going on during a time when Skytouch was branching away from Choice and enforcing many odd contracts.
I never met a single person from Sales. They were on the other side of the building, but the dev teams rarely interacted with any of them.

    Advice to Management

The work ethic was there, the talent was there, and the drive to do better was there, but I felt that there was a disjoint between what the company was to a developer and what the company was to the upper management. Often, working on projects, I was alone (or confined to just my group) and had no idea what the "big picture" was, or even if my method of getting the job done was wrong for the long term goal. The work within teams was great, but I feel we were disjointed as a company.
