I have been working at Choice Hotels full-time for less than a year

    Pros

There is lots of time off, and very interesting projects. It's a great environment for learning new technologies

    Cons

The job can be very high stress, with the frequent releases. Long hours are occasionally necessary for hitting deadlines.

I worked at Choice Hotels full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

New technologies are being adopted allowing an opportunity to learn new stuff. Used to be an awesome place to work.

    Cons

Lack of clear strategy and C level leadership very biased with former colleagues from past company. Some directors close to C leadership harrass employees constantly with no ears to listen to the complaints. Culture degradation slope is super steep.

    Advice to Management

Listen to current associates, look at our exit interview data before you loose everyone. Rockville management needs to scrutinize what’s going on in Phoenix.

    Pros

BEST PLACE TO DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS!!! DISCLAIMER: Honestly, I wouldn't stay here longer than 5 years as a Software Engineer. They have an interesting job ladder where you're promoted on accomplishing yearly goals OUTSIDE of work, on your own time. This can be a good thing for entry-level engineers! However, these yearly goals don't exactly aid in your current/future work in the company - they're really meant for preparing...

    Cons

-Nightmare for those who come from the big companies, seek elsewhere if you have 10+ years under your belt, this place is chaotic and changing all the time - it's slowly coming together. -Average Salary compared to other companies that require same-level skills. -Feels like an RPG, you constantly seek help from project-specific gurus just so you can accomplish your task. Sometimes taking on tasks that aren't your responsibility....

HR Lots of parties but that is changing Hotel Discounts Good Speakers

    Cons

Not defined Goals Leaders are them self confused about what to do PBR Model(Plan Build Run) -- you will not get complete exposure if you are engineer. if you are on run than you are only on phone with issues with very less coding. if you are build engineer enjoy coding but no real world application issue exposure. Build Job risky as they keep moving you in projects. Very Vague requirement. Employee are encouraged...

they fire you without giving you 1 min notice.

    Advice to Management

treat latent the way they should be treated. Lay off people without giving them notice is awful. Never recommend anybody to join this company.

Normally good work life balance until unless you are under some critical project. Free soft drinks. New Idea's and innovation is encouraged by higher management. I have been working at Choice Hotels full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Talented people work here. Genuine interest in improving products, helping "customers" (hotel operators).

    Cons

Issues with compensation policies throughout my employment. First was not informed during offer process that health coverage doesn't start until you're a few months in (used ACA to cover myself). Then even though I was prepared for 401k to start (also "late" at month 3), they didn't enable my account until I brought it up with HR. Then, I learned that because I started late in the year, I basically missed out on 4 months...

    Advice to Management

Provide reasonable HR resources like so many other companies. Start health insurance on day 1, 401k on day 1, pro-rate all merit increases to the employee's start date, etc. If you need to downsize a department, simply stop hiring and using attrition and other incentives to get people to change positions rather than firing them en masse.
