    Pros

BEST PLACE TO DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS!!! DISCLAIMER: Honestly, I wouldn't stay here longer than 5 years as a Software Engineer. They have an interesting job ladder where you're promoted on accomplishing yearly goals OUTSIDE of work, on your own time. This can be a good thing for entry-level engineers! However, these yearly goals don't exactly aid in your current/future work in the company - they're really meant for preparing...

    Cons

-Nightmare for those who come from the big companies, seek elsewhere if you have 10+ years under your belt, this place is chaotic and changing all the time - it's slowly coming together. -Average Salary compared to other companies that require same-level skills. -Feels like an RPG, you constantly seek help from project-specific gurus just so you can accomplish your task. Sometimes taking on tasks that aren't your responsibility....

    Pros

Interesting industry. A lot of good people. Those at the director and above level can make a ton of money through stock options - if you aren't getting stock options this place isn't worth it. VP who ran my department never stayed past 5pm so work-life balance is great.

    Cons

Layoffs were common and done with no rhyme or reason - company should have a longer-term perspective given the family that controls half its stock isn't sweating quarterly performance. Big-time favoritism in certain departments.

    Advice to Management

    Get some new blood.

    Pros

Work/Life balance, and WFH flexibility Nice office space (Phoenix/Mayo location) Free, shaded parking Awesome Whole Foods store within walking distance Makes a concerted effort to be transgender welcoming

    Cons

Too many reorgs that never gel before a new one is put in place. Culture is way too loose - expected to take on teammate's work because teammate claims to be "too busy", yet said teammate will roll in at 10ish, then look at YouTube, while you're doing their work !!!!! Pointing out this situation to my team lead only got a shoulder shrug for a response. Rotating door at the CTO/CIO/middle management level creates high...

    Advice to Management

Don't be so tone deaf - laying people off without warning, then later on the same day, expecting all of us to come "celebrate" the loyalty program hitting a certain membership level is COLD. Keep on top of team lead's performance, and remove them from team lead status if they don't perform, as that kills team morale when the team lead is checked out and doesn't care. Or, you end up with an entire team of people who...

    Pros

Great people, fun activities, work life balance, early release during holidays....

    Cons

HR is always slow and not very responsive. You won't move up or get promoted unless you have a connection or know the upper management. It's all about the favoritism game. Kind of corrupt if you ask me.

I have been working at Choice Hotels full-time

    Pros

I've worked for some pretty horrible, old-school organizations. This is not one of them. It's a breath of fresh air. - good vacation time - friendly coworkers and open culture - open to telework (if your manager is open to it) - easy to move between departments and learn more/take on more responsibility, if you are self-directed and motivated - your peers and leaders actually appreciate your work, thank you for it,...

    Cons

    - work/life balance is a little tough. Most people work late. But a lot of the time, it's because we want to be doing what we're doing, not because we have to do it. - health plan isn't the best.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing - have an open mind, and talented people will continue to join the company and help it innovate and grow.
