I worked at Christ Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent nurses and doctors who support a noble mission. Decent pay.

    Cons

High turnover, mostly related to an administration that doesn't care about the employees. This is getting worse as time goes on! It wasn't like this when I started there 13 years ago! Christ Hospital used to be all about the employees and it was an honor to even get a job there, and once you were in, you didn't want to leave. I remember soon after I started there, the CEO came to me personally and asked me if there was anything that she could do to make me happier as an employee! First place I EVER worked that even cared if I was happy! That CEO is long gone and the CEO now is a banker who only cares about the money! Now, people have to sign a contract to be hired on so that they can't leave! After working at Christ Hospital as an RN for 13 years, I was hurt at work providing primary care to a patient. After calling all the shots, and determining each step of what would happen during the healing process, for 6 months, Christ Hospital terminated me when I didn't heal completely. They said that it is their policy, without exception, to terminate an employee after 6 months of inability to work, no matter what the cause. That would be exactly the amount of time that I spent in physical therapy before they decided that I needed surgery! They wouldn't even work with me so that I could maintain my benefits until I could return! In speaking with legal council, this is nothing new for Christ Hospital. If you choose to work there, DON'T GET HURT!

    Advice to Management

Start caring about your employees again... like Susan always did! Realize that your employees are an asset!

I have been working at Christ Hospital full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers focused on quality care
    Beautiful facility

    Cons

Benefits are not comparable to other similar facilities
    Pay is not comparable either
    Senior Management
    High turn over

    Advice to Management

Make the focus of our mission our patients and not on the bottom line. Make the benefits and pay incentive enough to want to stay at TCH. The hospital does so little to recognize the hard work that the staff does. If it weren't for the amazing employees the company would not be doing as well as it is. Take care of your staff and they will take care of you. Every year another benefit or perk is taken with nothing given in return. Every year the cost of benefits has gone up yet the plans cover less. I understand that healthcare is changing however I feel like we should be offered good health insurance since we are exposed to so much. Get it together or you are going to continue to lose amazing employees.

I worked at Christ Hospital part-time

    Pros

Loved working at The Christ Hospital. The best part is the people.

    Cons

The corporate red tape in getting things done seems to be endless. Part of that is the way of the medical industry these days.

    Advice to Management

Management has got to stop, turn around, and remember their best asset is their people. It is getting lost in the desire to get big and become the best "institution." Your institution is nothing without appreciating your people -- attracting the best people and motivating the best out of them.
