I have been working at Christian Broadcasting full-time

    Pros

    Relationships and global work impact

    Cons

Benefits, pay, and overall compensation is below industry standard

    Advice to Management

Make benefits and pay more competitive. The salaries are not industry standard even for the region. The company's mission, goal, and history is rich and something worth being a part of. If the employee compensation gets improvements then this company would be a no brainer for anyone.

    Cons

I really can't think of anything that could be considered a "con."

I worked at Christian Broadcasting full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people in the accounting department.

    Cons

Very inconsistent leadership in audit department. What is correct one day, is wrong the next. When scheduling travel oversees current management does not consider staffs personal schedules.

I have been working at Christian Broadcasting full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Mission oriented workplace, with an emphasis on God and Family. It's a mid-sized organization with access to enterprise-size technologies to help bring the Good News to the world. It s an environment that inspires good leadership in order to bring forth the contributions of individuals. You could come to work here, and learn many aspects of Media Production or supporting Technologies. The employee benefits are above average.

    Cons

There are silos that can make inter-departmental work more complicated. There are many lines of focus for disseminating the Good News, which makes for more complicated focus on 'how' to support these channels.

    Advice to Management

Continue to reward demonstrated excellence. Gain better inter-departmental alignment through various means including process engineering.

I have been working at Christian Broadcasting full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have worked in various positions at CBN for more than 20 years. The work environment is very supportive and forgiving in comparison to secular media environments. That isn't to say there aren't personalities to deal with, but overall, it's a great place to hone your craft on a world stage. CBN is THE premiere Christian television network with production facilities across the globe, creating more than 20 original programs in dozens of languages. CBN's humanitarian aid arms, Operation Blessing and Orphan's Promise, are second to none in terms of providing a variety of tangible aid to literally millions of people in need around the world. If you feel called to work in media where Christ is the focus, and your heart is to play a part in meeting physical and spiritual needs, CBN may be the place for you.

    Cons

Opportunities for advancement within the company are minimal. Raises for cost of living or merit have been pretty much non-existent for the past ten years or so. Depending on the department, micro-management often stifles creativity and drives employees crazy.

    Advice to Management

Show genuine appreciation to your employees. Stop micro-managing those who are in creative positions. Trust people to do the job they were hired to do. The CEO needs to accept the fact that he does not know everything, and that the company/ministry would be much more effective and efficient if he would listen to advice from the people who know what they are doing.

I worked at Christian Broadcasting (More than a year)

    Pros

Fantastic and supportive culture that is "WYSIWYG". They mean what they say and say what they mean. The effort to add value to the world is a reflection of the people that make up the culture.

    Cons

Compensation plan is very good though starting pay is reflective of a Ministry. A starting salary of lower than market value is the norm.

I worked at Christian Broadcasting full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Its a very peaceful and wonderful place to interact with co-workers, an environment of Christians that is not hindered to stop at any time to pray for one another.

    Cons

There is not much accountability on Management on their treatment of employees. No matter your title or the direction you plan to have for a career it can be altered by Managements decision to move you into whatever position they deemed necessary to accomplish whatever goal they are seeking.

    Advice to Management

To be more open to listening to each employee that you are managing, to care about the direction each person is desiring to take for a career and help them through training to get to that place without them not being available to do their present job efficiently.
