I have been working at Christiana Care (More than 8 years)

    Pros

CCHS invests in their nurses. They are a MAGNET facility with state of the art resources.

    Cons

ANM position was mostly learn as you go/ self-taught - little training other than generalized leader orientation that applies to the organization as a whole.

  4. "Very stuffy and invasive company with policies that apply to everyone."

I worked at Christiana Care full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, decent pay, pays for AAPC membership and provides CEU webinars

    Cons

Very stuffy culture, encourages you to just do your job (don't go above and beyond), policies apply to everyone across the board. Required to take education seminars for clinical information that didn't apply to my job. My biggest problem: very limited flexibility with schedule. Billing is subject to the same rules as nurses and that is not OK with me. I understand why nurses have limited flexibility, they work in shifts. No one comes in when I leave and does my work for me though, so flexibility is a perk that I feel like I have earned.

    Advice to Management

Review your policies and how they apply to all departments. Listen to what the little people have to say and take it into consideration. Just because I am not a high ranking employee doesn't mean that my views are not valid.

I have been working at Christiana Care full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

As Delaware's largest system and level 1 trauma center you will gain a great deal of experience and knowledge. Competitive pay and benefits. Caring and professional staff, patient safety is a priority.

    Cons

Constantly understaffed because of high turnover, very little work/life balance. You will leave everyday exhausted. Ineffective supervisors and management that can be unprofessional towards staff at times. If you like micromanagement, this is the place for you.
