I have been working at Christie Digital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Christie is a company that feels like a family but in a larger group setting. There is an open door policy throughout the organization. Christie has an amazing CEO that genuinely cares about the well being of each individual employee. You just don't find this in this day in age. Christie provides excellent benefits and pay, flexible schedules and caring management that understands there needs to be a balance between work and life.

    Cons

There have been a few bumps along the road with expansion as with every company, however Christie has done an excellent job of making these transitions as seamless as possible.

I have been working at Christie Digital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people, challenging and interesting products.

    Cons

Top management is making decisions that are dividing employees instead of getting people to work together. Either the company leaders are short-term planners or they fail at communicating long term goals to employees.

    Advice to Management

Talk to your employees, listen to them as you claim to listen to the customers.

    Pros

    - Unlimited OT opportunity
    - Sickday & vacation accrual
    - Job security
    - Friendly co-workers

    Cons

    - Underpaid employees (Little to no raises)
    - Abundant workload (Constantly adding more to load when understaffed)
    - Lack of training (No consistency)
    - Low morale
    - No incentives

    Advice to Management

Get more involved with the team and understand the struggles and strengths of everyday operations.
Find ways to make work less stressful and more rewarding, because the more happy the employees the more productive work and better service outcome.

    Pros

Generally interesting work, variety of projects, good environment, high schedule flexibility, conscientious Management, stability, good retirement benefits and bonuses, small enough teams for work to be impactful.

    Cons

Some last-minute rescoping of projects, expensive family health insurance. Little opportunity to work remotely outside of emergencies, and no options to work regular flex schedules.

    Pros

International company wit a lot of travel. Always looking to move the technology forward and improve the company processes...Christie is a great company to work for.

    Cons

Needs to be a better evaluation when laying off people. Need to expand the 401k with additional choices for investment that produce a higher profit.

    Advice to Management

Take a close look at your medical offerings as I believe you can get a better policy for the employees if you search out other insurance providers.

    Pros

Having worked for this company for over ten years, I can honestly say that they provided an environment that was fair, a workplace that was accomodating and rewarding--despite the business challenges. The leadership worked hard to ensure good pay, bonuses and perks. Employees feel that they good trust the leadership, and in turn they have pride in what they do and enjoy the people they work with.

    Cons

Business objectives changed often making it hard to understand the intent or direction. Decentralizing departments caused confusion and redundancy issues. Employees will need more top down communication to fully understand their roles and how they continue to add value to it.

    Advice to Management

Communication is key. Stronger training programs are required.

I have been working at Christie Digital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They try to be people-oriented, but you have to be their "people." Many wonderful people below the Director level work here.

    Cons

CEO and his top staff. Think of a culture you would like to work in where everyone was valued and used according to their strengths and talents...this is NOT Christie. Christie wants everyone to be everything. They have zero knowledge of the way management is trending. Divisive best describes HR and the CEO.

    Advice to Management

Take the 3-day course at Zappos, or learn about Strengths Based Management from Gallup. Create a powerful and positive environment instead of one that breeds fear.

"No Annual Pay Raises for Good Performance Appraisals!"

I worked at Christie Digital full-time

    Pros

You may learn a lot about DLP projectors and associated video products and digital cinema equipment enough to use Christie Digital as a stepping stone/introductory job if you wish to pursue a career in digital cinema.

    Cons

This company has no structured Performance Pay scale! The only time you will get a raise in this company is if you get a promotion or if there is a company wide cost of living adjustment. These cost of living adjustments ( which generally are less than 5% of your base salary) do nothing for any person making $15 - $19 per hour as this will not even keep up with the rate of inflation or the cost of fuel if prices rise. There is very little training especially on new products dumped into the market. These products are generally introduced into the market before fully being tested and prior to having any support staff trained on supporting, installing and repairing their new products. Senior management has no sympathy for subordinates assigned to fix/repair these products in the field even though they were never given any training on the products in the first place. This leaves their customers feeling neglected and without confidence in the products sold, thanks to the sales team who makes promises they cannot keep! It is definitely not a company that you want to stake a career with as the management staff is very stagnant. You very rarely have any interaction with upper management as they are completely out of touch with what goes on with the base, hourly employees or how they feel about their jobs or careers with Christie Digital. This leads to very low moral and high turnover ratios with top talent acquired. They do NOT give out annual pay raises only company wide bonus money dependent upon how good the company revenues were in comparisons to the targets set by upper management in the prior business quarter.

    Advice to Management

Seek to have upper management have semi-annual or annual meetings with hourly employees to openly address any concerns with base/hourly employees and share with them new company innovations and products. Provide more training BEFORE products hit the market and develop and implement an annual Performance Pay structure to give good employees a raise in pay! This will retain in house talent that usually leave within a few years of working here.
