I worked at Christmas Tree Shops part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Allowed me to be creative, staff easy to work with, company discount was nice, choice of shift made scheduling easier.

    Cons

Work can be physically demanding, and requires patience. Often required to work on holidays and frequently understaffed. Made for long nights.

    Advice to Management

Listen to suggestions and feedback from employees. When you schedule celebratory events for staff, don't forget about the overnight workers.

I worked at Christmas Tree Shops part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fun product. Fun environment. Fun work too. Much more than just Christmas trees.

    Cons

Major communication problems within management. At times you'd have three managers telling you three different ways to do a thing.

    Advice to Management

Make sure all of your supervisors and managers are on the same page. Also encourage them to be friendly to the other associates.

I worked at Christmas Tree Shops (More than a year)

    Pros

Very friendly, fast past, they make sure everyone gets their lunch, 20% discount I think, Nice part-time jab for students or as a second job, fun busy summer job

    Cons

VERY unorganized, Prices wrong on product, product moves over night every night making it hard to help customers find things, things on sale without tags, lots of broken product on the shelves, hot during the summer, have to put carts of product back on the shelves multiple times throughout your shift. I was put on Customer service (returns) without being properly trained (had to call for help a lot)

    Advice to Management

organize your product more, stop moving the store around, don't change prices every day, Train better

I worked at Christmas Tree Shops full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fun customers and usually a good rapport with co workers; Fair Insurance program, Safety is a high concern at all levels

    Cons

Management at all levels does not care about the employees( certain employees) Favoritism is obvious; large help turn over
Frequently the work load is way beyond the minimal staffing scheduled

    Advice to Management

When an employee of longevity asks for temporary scheduling help, listen to them and assist as much as you can. You lose good people by your negative reactions, narrow vision, and cater to certain favorites- it shows, Now you have to train 2someones to do
what one long term employee did very w ell

I worked at Christmas Tree Shops full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Grandfathered in almost getting full time hours

    Cons

After almost 20 years rate of pay is what I could be making elsewhere in 2 - 3 years

    Advice to Management

Stop micro managing people you hire, let them do the jobs you hired them to do. Upper management needs to stop belittling management at store level, management at store level needs appreciate employee's who consistently work hard just because. You might say "that's what we're payed to do" but I'll be willing to bet certain employee's make your day a whole lot easier , It doesn't take much to let them know how much you appreciate them Evey once in a while!

I worked at Christmas Tree Shops full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work is pretty much always available to do and as an employee you are always kept busy. Different departments work together in a logical and productive manner. Safety is of very high importance to the company.

    Cons

Corporate and/or Management treatment of employees is not always fair or respectful. Policies change a lot and are not always logical changes in respect to actually getting work done. At times the work that needed to get done was unrealistic in regards to the amount of man/woman power that was available.

    Advice to Management

Be more mindful of what exactly the employees underneath your management are going through to complete tasks and become successful. Make sure they are not being set up for failure due to lack of resources or poor policies.

    Pros

They offered flexible schedules so good for people with another job. The employees were all friendly and respectful. The work was easy.

    Cons

Typical retail environment with minimum wage salaries. The customer base is not great; mostly crabby elderly people or needy rude people.

    Advice to Management

Communication among managers and employees needs work.
