I worked at Chubb Fire & Security full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

It was great when I 1st started with Chubb in 2006. I thought I had found a place to work for the next 20 years. They have great benefits Medical Dental and 401 K top of the line. Now for Management as of 2009 they set you up for failure pick at how you speak or word choice. No one was every professional enough. They started weeding out older workers with more then 8 years in. Management has favorites and if they do not click with you nothing you can do to save your job. You are on the way out.

    Cons

They do not want you there more then 8 years- weeded people out after that time.
If your manager does not care for you, even though your performance is great your gone.
If your not a favorite you will not advance.
Your success depends on how the favorites in the department treat you. If even one does not care for watch out.
The call center in VA is the worst.

    Advice to Management

Base promotions on some one performance not if they are favorite
Change weeding people out at 8 years. Look to keep experienced workers.
Make meeting department goals and call guidelines able to be done. Stop picking at how people talk as long it is not like they have gum and their mouth all the time
    Value people more

    Pros

benefits are good, you can wfh(work for home), people are nice. You can relax and join this when you are ready for retirement..relax work env..you can finish the work in two days and enjoy two days in office and one day work from home

    Cons

Old People… no drive for learning…boring company. I wasted my couple of years. Techonology has moved a lot outside but in Chubb its still 19th century and it will never happen. Mgmt try to bring Indian outsourcing company to move little faster but outsourcing is not the solution.
In my exit interview HR said we are insurance company we don't need Technology guys…
    No free christmas party

    Advice to Management

Be agile.. take some risk in Technology get out of IBM clutch

    Pros

The benefits, salary, bonus, flexible work schedule, coworkers. company activities for employees.

    Cons

Long hours, some unrealistic best practices to meet goals, expectation for meeting or exceeding goals in light of the work load is not realistic. Micromanaging by some managers is unproductive and hinders the workflow, as well as having favorites (its unfair).

    Advice to Management

Staff properly and review best practices for realistic expectations. This will result in better customer service and customer retention.

    Pros

They offer great benefits, health, 401k, profit
Sharing, pension, ect. People you work with.

    Cons

It depends on what department you work in
And who your managers are. Most of the company
Has good manager. It's about 80/20 80% good.
I had poor managers that set me up for failure.
My position was newly created so there was a
Big grey area. My goals constently changed &
More often than not my goals were not
    Measurable

    Advice to Management

Set up specific, measurable goals and make
Sure they are clear from the start.
    Measurable and clear
