    Pros

The leadership at the company, including the Office of General Counsel, is great

    Cons

The company does not pay its attorneys well, including high performers.

    Advice to Management

Salary and bonuses should be comparable to contribution

I worked at Chubb full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Culture was supportive and pay was above fair market prior to merger with Ace. Looked forward to going to work and felt valued.

    Cons

Workload is unrealistic. No real long term strategy. More like a factory than an insurance company. No time is given to optimizing process. A lot of unnecessary manual work. Too busy to focus anything other than immediate workload. Can’t see this company thriving in the long term.

    Advice to Management

Get out of the last century. Show that you value good employees and recognize that people have lives outside of the office. Look forward and come up with strategic goals that are clear and that employees feel like they are working towards rather than a ‘sweat shop’ mentality.

I have been working at Chubb full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work downtown in old city on 6th and walnut. Decent amount of compensation and benefits for your work if you're at a low or high level position. If you want minimal responsibility and still get paid decently, work here. But dont volunteer or attempt to do more than the bare minimum... you will be taken advantage of and then be told youre lazy and lack dedication when your manager tires to overload your work schedule.

    Cons

Incredibly poor work culture. No respect from senior management, unrealistic expectations of responsibilities and timelines, lack of resources to accomplish basic daily tasks (horrendous IT infrastructure) and no personal accountability. Intermediate level position such as senior analysts are under compensated and there is no career development structure so that you know what skills and competencies you need to reach the next level.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating everyone below financial reporting managers as expendable commodities

I have been working at Chubb full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The flexibility of working from home is helpful

    Cons

The workload is unmanageable and is a set up for failure. Pay is not nearly what it should be for the amount of work that is done, and upper management doesn't make an effort to keep valuable and experienced employees. Particularly since the acquisition there is more of a feeling of being disposable and less that Chubb cares to invest in people who have invested a lot into their work. It's all about results.

    Advice to Management

When making decisions that would impact the day to day work of underwriters, it would be beneficial to get their input. So many decisions are made at the top that don't make sense or are inefficient in practice. Pay your employees adequately for the work they do and even more importantly hire the right number of people instead of giving unreasonable workloads to people and further creating a negative work environment.

    Pros

Work life balance, team mate, business trips, global exposure, decent pay, ok management, basically meets the medium expectation of an insurance company.

    Cons

Unstructured, power struggle resulting from merger, political, not transparent, since the merger, a lot of people have been coming and going.
