I have been working at Chubb full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Legacy Chubb - Great company with wonderful people. A lot of room to advance and encouraged movement.

    Cons

With the ACE merger, things are starting to become uncertain. The culture will be lost and the morale across the organization is low. People are jumping ship.

    Advice to Management

Try your hardest to keep the Chubb culture in your departments, your team will thank you.

I have been working at Chubb (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great environment to work in. I worked in a small technology department in their Admin Services department. People are very friendly to work with. Balanced work load given to employees. It turned out good for me since this was my first job after graduation. So didn't feel like I ran into that work rut as soon as I graduated. Good balance in between work and life.

    Cons

Company just got acquired. Letting people go left and right. Was a temp-hire, but could not get hired because of this acquisition. Though they did extend my contract.

    Pros

    Cons

Recent acquisition is a blow to the current culture. Two varying approaches to achieving the same result - profit.

I have been working at Chubb (More than a year)

    Pros

Near to home. Nice physical work environment.

    Cons

I hope change is on the horizon with the recent merger. There is WAY too much old wood at legacy Chubb that needs chopping. If I hear 'work flow' one more time I may vomit. Innovation is terrifying to most. The 'know it all' attitude of tenured employees prevails. Managers have never been held accountable for poor behavior. If it crosses 'the line' they hand the problem off to HR. It's unclear how one career paths here. They reward tenure with promotions to the many levels of non-management. Operations has both 'Specialists' and 'Seniors' in every department. Plus first and second level supervisors/managers. Who can wade through it all?

Not clear where the bar is set for new hires. Take what you can get? In this economy with high unemployment in NJ we should be able to do MUCH better.

Turning a blind eye to performance issues is popular here. One supervisor who had a LESS THAN 50% favorable result on her employee feedback survey 2 YEAR AGO is still there torturing her employees. Turnover in this group is accordingly sky high.

I pray ACE has come to save the day. Love Evan's enthusiasm and message. Shake it up! Please!!

    Advice to Management

Clean house AT EVERY LEVEL. Good work so far. Keep it up and make your way down to these extraneous levels of non-management. These are the untouchables with bad attitudes who are inappropriately empowered to treat new employees poorly. Most have zero people skills and wouldn't be qualified to work in the 'real world'. Several ops supervisors need to go for the same reasons. Waiting patiently but may not stay if the culling isn't thorough enough. Sends us a message that those who are working hard for you need to tolerate these conditions.
