I worked at Ciber full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

No one bothers you from the company. You are a money making machine. They come into the picture only if there are issues. Provide you with basics like laptop etc

    Cons

There is absolutely no appreciation what so ever. You would know you are doing good from all around you [peers, boss, skip level upto even VP] But ciber doesn't recognize this. Not even over the email or face to face.

    Advice to Management

People are not money making machines for you. Open your eyes and see the world, learn from it as to how keep your employees happy.

I have been working at Ciber full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Ciber provides many resources you need to be an effective consultant: Equipment; software: on-line courses; books 24x7; etc.

    Cons

You have to initiate most of your benefits yourself (training, other opportunities, etc.) but on the whole the HQ staff is very supportive.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the size of the annual performance review and focus on just 3 areas: one personal growth; one new skill acquisition (training) and one getting the paperwork done on-time and correctly (i.e. doing the current job well). Focus will produce better results.

I have been working at Ciber as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible work, especially for contractors.

    Cons

They really cut corners on compensation. They offered way below market rate to start and negotiating raises even with stellar performance reviews is very challenging.

    Advice to Management

If you really want top talent, compensate them well.

    Pros

Ciber has great Consulting Managers that really care about their consultants and attempt to stay in touch with them to check on how they are doing when on assignment. The benefits are comparable to the industry and I feel that Ciber has competitive pay for it's consultants.

    Cons

When your assignment is about to end there is not enough communication with the consultant to advise where things stand with marketing your skills to find you a new contract and keep you off the bench. I have been fortunate to be working for a terrific group that has initiated a consistent long-term extension and has a good relationship with the Ciber Account Management team.

    Advice to Management

Promote more internal training and development for consultants to continue to build bench-strength and develop their skillset.
