I have been working at Cigna as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Peer level associates are great!

    Cons

Morale is not good. The corporate entity is too obsessed with the bottom line.

    Advice to Management

Doesn't listen enough to the rank and file.

I have been working at Cigna full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work at home and flexible schedules (for the most part)

    Cons

Leadership, I mean real leadership, is willfully detached from the lowert tier employee issues. Raises, career progression, and benefits are tragic. You will be expected to do your job as well as everyone else's for a minimal pat on the back.

    Advice to Management

Leadership needs more line of sight on the "doers" in their organizations. Compensation and benefits need a huge overhaul to even be the realm of what competitors offer. In short, if you have any work ethic at all you will be used and abused until you've had enough and take off.

I worked at Cigna full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great food in lunch room, very good hours (no evenings).

    Cons

Managers only give raises to their friends, it is not enough to be a great worker/employee. Extreamly SLOW advancement (expect years in same position) before the agree to advance you.

    I worked at Cigna full-time

    Pros

Great direct supervisor, some work at home ability.

    Cons

Upper management is so disconnected. Layoffs come out of nowhere, a constant feeling of stress.

    Advice to Management

    Take care of your people!!!

I have been working at Cigna full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay is decent. Because they pay well they think they can mistreat their employees. No other pros. Health insurance they provide to their own employees is a joke with high deductibles.

    Cons

    Internal Politics
    No path for career advancement
    Management is dysfunctional
High employee turnaround because they mistreat employees
    HR is a joke
    IT is a nightmare

    Advice to Management

Provide career advancement to high performers instead of hiring external hires that struggle to navigate and influence.

I worked at Cigna full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Interesting work. Decent Salary. Negotiate well because incentive plan is flat, and will yield very little for even the top performers.

    Cons

Too much red tape to initiate even the smallest change. Too much turnover due to overwork. Only hiring degreed claim managers leads to entitled know-it all's millennials who value time off more than hard work.

    Advice to Management

Hire some real-world experience, or better yet, grow your own.,wwithout the degree and the unrealistic expectations of being promoted in a year.

I worked at Cigna full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great opportunity for growth if you're a really fast learner, good opportunity for raises/bonuses [again, if you do well]

    Cons

Awful work [insurance customers are among the worst], mediocre management, quite a bit of information and standard operating procedures change seemingly non-stop, growth is very dependent on the department you start in

    Advice to Management

The lower level management seems to have their hands tied. It may be the nature of the insurance business, but things change far too often to expect some employees to keep up.

I have been working at Cigna as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Some people are nice and seem to have good intentions, maybe like 5% of the people

    Cons

I honestly cannot figure out why anyone wants to work here. They haven't had any of the things I've needed to do my job pretty much the entire time. One of my male coworkers said something demeaning and patronizing to me, and when I brought it up to the manager, he literally laughed at me and said I'm making things up. Then, I told my boss, who said 'I can't do anything about it'. They don't like when you suggest a new idea, so if you work here, just do what they say and don't offer any opinions.

    Advice to Management

Yikes, not sure, except good luck I guess. There's a ton of competition out there and you're not setting your employees up to succeed. I'm really surprised more people haven't left. Oh wait! It's because 99% of the people who work here are men and get treated differently for some reason.
