I have been working at Cigna full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Cigna itself is a wonderful company; Cigna Healthspring is another story.

    Cons

The leadership in my particular department is faulty and all need replacing as it's turned into a competition for who has more weight than who and not looking out for the well being of the reps to maintain a healthy work/life balance and healthy happy work environment.

I have been working at Cigna full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

PTO, lots of work at home options, diversity of cases, freedom to use clinical judgement, not over worked- there are crazy days but most are manageable, great tuition reimbursement program and opportunities for growth, ceu days and reimbursement

    Cons

Middle management advancements not always the best choice but who they knew to get the promotion, health benefits are lacking, yearly wages are consistently low despite contribution

    Advice to Management

Meritocracy honored and more oversight of middle management giving the good raises and bonuses to their buddies, in making changes involve the people in the field who can give best direction on what works or would not, higher raises- honor the long time employees- slap in the face to see people leave and then come back or even come yet new hires making significantly more than the loyal experienced employees, increase ceu money for those that also need to maintain professional licenses

I worked at Cigna full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This was my first full-time position after graduating from a university. Working for a well known corporation was exciting, and the onboarding was excellent. Classroom training was provided, and paid.

    Cons

I liked what I did, but the metrics were too harsh to stick to at times (every cold call is totally different, being timed per call was tough). I learned a lot but was not sad to say goodbye.

    Advice to Management

Understand that metrics are not black and white. You can have great employees who are off by a minute or so.

Large company thus difficult to learn all the names of the heavily revered and feared higher ups, poor parking for contractors.

They really focus on the customer and live innovation - rather than just talking about it.

    Pros

Good working environment...Flexibility with working in the office or working from home

    Cons

    Very hard to change positiions

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to keep a closer eye on managers with high turnovers rates. Usually its not the employee who is the problem, but how management interacts with these employees. i have seen good talent leave due to poor management.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

More work at home days, there is no reason why only 2 work at home days are allowed. More work at home days would help with department morale.
