I have been working at Cimpress full-time

    Pros

Incredibly smart colleagues with a get-things-done attitude. Extremely long-term perspective gives employees freedom to innovate. Next to bleeding edge technology adoption.

    Cons

The long-term focus means that progress towards goals is hard to perceive.

    Advice to Management

Celebrate specific wins along the way.

I worked at Cimpress full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good work life balance Decent amount of PTO (16 to start up to 21) Relatively new technology stack Good for new college grads in tech, but please leave after 1-2 years so you can get more exposure

    Cons

Stagnant growth Lots of politics Constant shift in direction

    Advice to Management

Listen more to your employees who do most of the work and focus on one direction instead of multiple. Reward your employees based on work and not preferences. This ends up driving away a lot of the good people, leaving the rotten ones behind.

    Pros

Collaborative work environment. Great work life balance. Talented staff.

    Cons

Global workplace can cause challenges when communicating with peers - this is more of a challenge and not a bad problem to have.

I have been working at Cimpress

    Pros

Great perks, good office location, excellent people.

    Cons

There are some potentially rough commutes depending on where you live and what time of day you want to be working, but they do go out of their way to accomodate users of public transportation if you are willing to be a little less flexible with your work times.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

I worked at Cimpress full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Great people -Good work/life balance -Great perks (including food trucks, sabbaticals, generous PTO) -Challenging work, and never bored -Overall great culture, and most managers have an open door policy that you feel 100% comfortable exercising

    Cons

-Reorganizations have become the norm, and this makes for what feels to be an unstable work environment. Just when you get comfortable with your current situation, something with change that changes your job. -Management doesn't always recognize your hardwork. When you go above and beyond, you will not be rewarded. Staff will end up doing the work of a manager without any recognition. -Management doesn't always... want to hear the opinions of the staff which their decisions affect. -Not always a clear path for growth opportunities in your career.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the staff more. They are the ones that the major decisions are affecting, and not utilizing their input is what is making everything harder. There needs to be better lines of communication.

I have been working at Cimpress full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Work-life balance heavily favors life. - Benefits/salary are on the lower end for a quality tech company, but definitely in the quality tech range - Lots of competent people are leaving - plenty of responsibility and promotions up for grabs - Lots of team autonomy. Experience varies by team. There are some really smart people doing really interesting work - it's just hard to find - Excellent CTO trying to... build a high-quality tech company. - Tech stack is pretty modern. Very few legacy systems following transition to microservices - Every 5 years, you earn a month-long sabbatical.

    Cons

    - Good people leaving constantly. It's an exodus draining the company of talent - Rampant dead-sea effect. Long-time Vistaprint/Cimpress-ers getting influence beyond abilities as everyone else leaves. Frustrating the young talent away - Some feeling that the long-term strategy has been abandoned in favor of driving the stock price up after several quarters of disappointing stock price growth - Equity offering is... poor - No peer reviews. Incompetent, politically-savvy people can find a niche and stay there - Waltham is being diminished in favor of cheaper overseas workers - Endless reorgs and layoffs. Good that leadership is willing to acknowledge mistakes, but no stability. - Vision is unclear. Not sure if we're still building a platform or if it would just be too embarrassing to abandon the name Mass Customization Platform

    Advice to Management

    - Wake up to the fact that your talent is leaving. Talent management and development is non-existent - Why would someone good choose to work at Cimpress over somewhere else? Many employees are asking that question and not finding answers.

I have been working at Cimpress full-time

    Pros

Technology roles are highly-valued and given wide latitude to accomplish business objectives. Flexible work hours including work from home. Very decentralized. Few meetings.

    Cons

Many reorgs over the past few years has been disorienting, but that seems to have abated lately. Very difficult to find out what other teams are doing and how that may impact what you do. Boston office is being de-emphasized in lieu of lower-cost remote sites.

    I worked at Cimpress full-time

    Pros

If you get in on the right team or under right manager, you could find a good niche. Good benefits - solid insurance, free food pretty often, parking gym game room, good 401k match.

    Cons

Lots of reorgs and layoffs, seemingly without a rhyme or reason. Too many politics. Gating factors on decisions are politics involving long time Vistaprint-ers/Cimpress-ers. Lack of ownership for failed strategies from the top, just reorg and let some people go. Redoing team structures does not make up for bad business decisions or initiatives.

    Advice to Management

Stop reorganizing teams to cover up each failed initiative or bad decision.
