I have been working at Cincinnati Bell full-time

    Pros

    - most of the employees are really good people
    - depending on your position, there is interesting/stimulating work to be done
    - compensation is ok. Middle of the pack.

    Cons

    - frequent senior management reshuffling, resulting in the usual political games
    - company's stock and revenues are static, so growth strategies change like the wind
    - senior mgmt talks like they have a plan, but they're making it up as they go.
    - feels like they're always positioning themselves to be bought.
    - CEO likes to talk about corporate values, etc... but rules only apply to those below VP level. VP and up behave however they want, regardless of how it conflicts with corporate values, etc.

    Advice to Management

You guys need to require "skip level" meetings from EVERY level, Directors and above. The culture there encourages senior management to only think big picture and ignore details, which means there is a lot of BS and game playing going on in the VP and C-level ranks to cover butts. Not good long term (do you have a long-term?).

I have been working at Cincinnati Bell full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Management on the lower lever is great. They try their best to make it a good workplace. Some months the pay is good, but it doesn't come without hard and stressful dedication.

    Cons

No one in the company is ever on the same page. Constantly fighting the other branches of the company for the same customers. This is a direct result of the commission plans in place.

I have been working at Cincinnati Bell full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Management is awesome they do everything they can to help you achieve your goals, no micro management, very nice updated work environment

    Cons

They change your shifts and will give you a two day notice to tell you so. Every now and then they will make you work mandatory Saturday's. Constant changes nothing stays the same. The better you do the less you get. They don't value and appreciate employees. The retention department plays a very important role in company and brung in millions of dollars in revenue last year and they did nothing but thank us and cut our commission!

    Advice to Management

Show more appreciation to the ones who work extremely hard to help your company grow.

    Pros

Technology can be very interesting. Downtown location is central. Pay was above average. Very invested in the community. Benefits were decent.

    Cons

Much more concern about CYA than moving the company forward. Way too many grudges held between departments and individuals. Technology available for employee use is very outdated and inefficient.

I have been working at Cincinnati Bell full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people that work in the business department are excellent for the most part. There is flexibility in the day to day. Upper management is trying to make the culture more modern.

    Cons

Advancement is limited to people in the "in crowd" and not based on merit. The systems they use for supporting their products are so old and hard to work with it makes it difficult to support the more modern products they sell.

    Advice to Management

Have a better career path for employees, and make it easier for them to get experience in other departments.

    Pros

Excellent training. Bonus after training. Nit much to really say here.

    Cons

They punish you for sales you made when it dosent get installed due to techs and company error. They will also take pay away if a customer leaves after installed if its withen 3 months . the service is spotty and its not our faults the customers want something more reliable. Until accountability can be put into place this company will never live up to its expectations. Dont fall for the hype.

    Advice to Management

Dont allow your employees to be penalized for someone elses mistakes. Also pay them for the work they did.

I worked at Cincinnati Bell full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great co-workers.
Plenty of time off thanks to the union.

    Cons

Management doesn't seem to care about their employees.
Debt laden from bad past deals which causes them to downsize/outsource at the drop of a hat.
Will make you think they care about you but like all huge corporations they are just trying to make as much money as possible before they sell all their business to AT & T or Verizon.

    Advice to Management

Keep the jobs in the USA.
Promote people that know how to do the job they are hired for instead of the cliques that reside within the company (Ohio University crew).

I worked at Cincinnati Bell full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Christmas party is nice. Sales bonuses for meeting goals were generous as well.

    Cons

Upper management is terrible. It has to be if you look at their wireless side. They had to sell their spectrum because it wasn't performing.

    Advice to Management

Sales management is nothing but a constant totem pole or breathing down each others necks. What is there to say.
