I worked at Cincinnati Bell full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Compensation is good for the area.
    Benefits are nice.
    Unlimited overtime opportunities

    Cons

Limited advancement opportunity, nepotism is rampant.
Unrealistic expectations of both field personnel, and the product.
Complete disregard for a healthy work/home-life balance.
Tier 2 Employees are treated like second class citizens.

    Advice to Management

The field operations department needs a complete overhaul. The current management is ineffective, and concerned only with their own advancement.

I have been working at Cincinnati Bell full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company. Good benefits. Decent pay. Do your job well and its almost like working for yourself.

    Cons

Personally I don't see any cons. This position requires some overtime and working in all weather conditions. Some employees gripe about these two things but it is a requirement that you are aware of before being hired. If you don't like these conditions don't apply or accept the job.

    Advice to Management

    Less micromanagement.

I have been working at Cincinnati Bell full-time

    Pros

I have a great boss who cares about what I'm interested in working on and helps me pursue opportunities for growth.

    Cons

Very, very inconsistent workload. My manager doesn't seem to know what my job actually is and therefore gives me tasks she just doesn't want to do herself - things a secretary could do. The work environment is hostile to women, as well as racial and sexual minorities. I hear racial and sexual slurs on a weekly basis. I reported an instance of sexual harassment to HR several months ago, and while the experience with the HR rep was very positive, nothing ever happened to the two offenders (other than a slap on the wrist). Even among the few female employees I've talked to, there's a general resignation that "boys will be boys" and that eventually I'll get used to it.

    Advice to Management

Show some respect to your employees - not just the middle aged white men you so conveniently keep promoting to upper management.

    Pros

    Very laid back. Downtown location.

    Cons

Very unprofessional culture. Undefined job roles. Lack of ownership of technology (too many vendors). Very racially insensitive to say the least.

I worked at Cincinnati Bell full-time

    Pros

There is nothing positive about this company, it is a very stressful environment and management does not give two hoots about the hostile environment.

    Cons

This is a horrible place for people of color to work.

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting based on race, you have lost some valuable people as the result of your bigotry.

I worked at Cincinnati Bell full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of new technology and the ability to get as involved as you want to. Most of the people are friendly .

    Cons

If you aren't in the "in crowd" you won't move up. If you are happy in your current job that's not a bad thing though. The company seems to change direction every few years so you may think you have job security in your position and the next thing you know your job is outsourced or just done away with.

    Advice to Management

Put people in charge of the various groups that actually have a clue what is supposed to be going on. You will get quite a bit more done if the boss knows what his employees are doing in my opinion.
