I have been working at Cincinnati Bell full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people that work in the business department are excellent for the most part. There is flexibility in the day to day. Upper management is trying to make the culture more modern.

    Cons

Advancement is limited to people in the "in crowd" and not based on merit. The systems they use for supporting their products are so old and hard to work with it makes it difficult to support the more modern products they sell.

    Advice to Management

Have a better career path for employees, and make it easier for them to get experience in other departments.

    Pros

Excellent training. Bonus after training. Nit much to really say here.

    Cons

They punish you for sales you made when it dosent get installed due to techs and company error. They will also take pay away if a customer leaves after installed if its withen 3 months . the service is spotty and its not our faults the customers want something more reliable. Until accountability can be put into place this company will never live up to its expectations. Dont fall for the hype.

    Advice to Management

Dont allow your employees to be penalized for someone elses mistakes. Also pay them for the work they did.

    Pros

Coworker's were good people. Enjoyed learning from some of the senior reps.

    Cons

Goals were unattainable and the potential commission was greatly misrepresented. Outbound sales is a dying thing, most don't answer the phone, and those that do are typically in early stages of dementia.

    Advice to Management

More realistic goals & stop misrepresenting the average commission. The hours are impossible, add to that the stress of people not even answering their phones and you end up with a losing team.

I worked at Cincinnati Bell full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great opportunity to make money. If you do well with constant changes you have a chance of succeeding. The people are great to work with and really look out for each other. If you're a man, you have a great chance to grow into a higher position.

    Cons

Commission plan is constantly changing so you have to be able to consistently adapt your sales pitch to make the most money possible. Upper management doesn't listen to the needs of their employees and it seems like they are always looking for ways to make it harder for representatives to succeed. Women are treated with as much respect as the men. Upper management has their "bro club".

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees concerns. It seems a lot of managers forgot what it was like to be in our shoes and aren't willing to hear us out on the things we see day to day.

    Pros

Wide variety of products and services to offer, the business has some good local relationships. The sales and sales support people are hard working and honest.

    Cons

*Management will give the house away to hit a number, great at the time, but always has ramifications.
*Good ole boys club sales leadership.
*A "layoff" is always around the corner.
*products are not even close to best in class.
