I have been working at Cineworld Cinemas full-time

    Pros

Managers were fair and friendly. The work can be quite social. 2 free tickets a day.

    Cons

Unsurprisingly, no intellectual element. Cleaning, long/unsociable hours. Can be working 15 hours one week, 45 the next.

I have been working at Cineworld Cinemas part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

All of my management has been promoted from within the company so they know the ins and outs of the job which is good, there is often opportunity to progress. The staff discount is good, especially if you're into films! free movies and 40% off food and drink.

    Cons

Pay is appalling, not so much for team members but higher management do not get paid anywhere near enough for the stress and hassle they go through. If you are just looking for a temporary position its good but if you're wanting a career in it then poor pay will be with you for a long time.

    Advice to Management

management practices are largely positive in my experiences however more signage and bin on site would help customers and staff

    Pros

Being trained as a multifunctional team member means you get to work in different areas of the cinema which is good because otherwise it would be too monotonous. A good first job with a lot of interaction with the public/working as a team.

    Cons

Ridiculous amount of micromanagement and stupid rules. Favouritism is rampant. The company has no respect for employees/customers. No appreciation given for hard work.

    Advice to Management

Having worked for other large companies, I've seen that when you treat your staff with more respect, they'll work harder. Staff at Cineworld are unmotivated because they aren't treated properly by management.

I worked at Cineworld Cinemas full-time

    Pros

    - Unlimited free tickets for yourself and a plus one 3 months after working there, and discounts on food and drink
    - Great team spirit and morality
    - Varied roles and responsibilities
    - When management is good, there are lots of interesting opportunities to move up, and if you show initiative and drive then you can get some really good experience under your belt.
    - Thanks to the Unlimited scheme, you get to meet some genuinely lovely regulars
    - Pay is quite good compared to lots of other retail jobs
    - Lots of staff incentives where you can win vouchers and prizes

    Cons

    - Shift patterns vary week by week in terms of day, hours, etc. Rota only given weekly, little notice of when you'll do shifts. Can be anything from 15-20 hours to 45+
    - Work can be exhausting, and if you don't have a good combination of shifts then you end up knackered. The work is simple, but when it's busy you're often run off your feet
    - As with all retail jobs, customers can be pretty awful to you
    - Overall morale and progression is hugely dependant on management - the GM left at the site I worked at, and everything went downhill very quickly, many staff left out of frustration (including me), many of them very long term staff
    - Lack of social life due to weird hours, long shifts and little notice before shifts

    Advice to Management

Treat your staff with respect and you'll keep them forever. If you don't communicate with them, treat them as 'below you', and aggravate middle management then they'll move on, or just won't work hard. You don't have to be their best friend, but it helps to show that you respect them, the job they do, and you're upfront and honest with them. Removing all creativity and joy from the role makes the job incredibly soul destroying!

    Pros

you get to see free films

    Cons

Dealt with a lot of childish managers, favouritism, and a situation where i was dismissed unjustly as my supervisors and managers told me to lie to lie in meetings. Overall the management at my site was a joke. No idea how these people made it to that level. Cineworld need to keep an eye on who they're hiring.
