I worked at Circuit City full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The products were fun. The employees were great to work with. They had great benefits. Oh and the discount was nice too.

    Cons

The company didn't change its marketing and imaging fast enough to keep up with the competitive landscape and lost out.

    Advice to Management

Keep an eye on your competition and try to stay ahead with innovation.

I worked at Circuit City full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

While the stores are gone, Circuit City was always honest to its employees. I felt valued and always heard by my managers. When the stores closed, they provided plenty of notice to us employees.

    Cons

The physical stores may be closed now but the website is still functioning. The company attempted to expand too quick and implement new marketing ideas without knowing what their customers really needed.

    Advice to Management

I would attempt to reach out to the customers and listen to what they really want. This will help to provide a better scope and give management the better idea of how to reach their customers.

I worked at Circuit City (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Job. Good commissions. Interesting technology always coming in. Good managers to work for. You are rewarded for the hard work you put in. You get great employee discounts on purchases at the store.

    Cons

You have to be able to work long hours if you want to make good money. The more you work, the more money you make since it is a commissioned job. You have to work very long hours during the holiday season.

    Advice to Management

Give employees more commissions for open box items. Work with the prices more on open or damaged items. Provide more training weekly. Provide more incentives to get more sales.

    Pros

nothing really negative to say about the company. They were all cool guys that i worked with

    Cons

Wish we were a little bigger so we could show those best buy guys whats up

    Advice to Management

maybe there was a little too much red guys? blue is an attractive color, why couldn't we be blue?

I worked at Circuit City part-time

    Pros

Really enjoyed my time at Circuit City. Great environment, and all of my superiors and other coworkers were great to work with.

    Cons

The only con at this job was the fact that I lost it when the company liquidated all of their assets.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you have been doing. Treat all employees with respect, and you will see great work ethic in return.

I worked at Circuit City (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Was interesting to see new tech. Learn and inform of the next audio and video tech.

    Cons

Company developed into a all in one, lost focus on top line (or at least mid line) equipment and started selling "nick nacks" (soda, etc). Got out of appliances, killed business.

    Advice to Management

Should have had a more forward thinking view on the emerging technology and where they needed to position themselves for business.

    Pros

Great people. Smart coworkers. Really valued car stereo department up until a point. Was a great job while going to college

    Cons

Company went under. Some terrible customers. Some terrible employees. Not a career

    Advice to Management

Bring back SMART and PASSIONATE employees and pay them to be that way. Minimum wage gets minimum labor.

I worked at Circuit City full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It once had good products, and good people. Never a high end store, but always had a good selection.

    Cons

It was a good big box CE store, but when they eliminated commissions, they lost their best salespeople, and then they lost customers.

    Advice to Management

The CarMax model they created survived, so maybe this was a better path.
