I have been working at Cirque du Soleil part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very easy job, ok pay, no drama, nice customers

    Cons

Sometimes very fast paced, management demands more from employees and pay less, no benefits if part time and full-time is not offered

    Advice to Management

Give raises to people after they've been there for a year, or even 6 months.

I worked at Cirque du Soleil (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Amazing product produced and they offered great benefits and perks.

    Cons

It was a great place at one time, but upper management lost vision and control. They became completely out of touch with the workforce. It was a very arrogant company and when forced to make cuts they cut people rather than the perks afforded them.

    Pros

Once upon a time, it used to be a wonderful place to work. Some of the original people are still around, the food is still free for now, and employee parking. Can't forget employee parking. Also, there's discounts to places and such. Until he sold out to Chinese investors.

    Cons

Ever since the buyout, the quality has declined drastically. We have all been poisoned by their employee food on numerous occasions. (If you work in a costume or wet suit, you'll understand how horrifying this could be).

Our "boss" now is comparable to Peter Griffin an we are all Meg.
The review about "who you know" is absolutely correct. I've seen so many qualified people turned down because the position was being filled by a family member or friend.
It's really hard to get fired from here so you've got to work with that 20 year drunk that messes everything up or the person who wants to be lazy and not do her pre-chores before the show. (yeah, our job is dangerous too so that's exciting). But don't worry! The boss won't fire you. He'll just chat your ear off about the weather and hate speech. (He should just try out to be a clown).

If you work too hard, you will end up doing the additional work of the lazy person.
They will change your hours for certain weeks that's all over the map. (Don't have a life or else!)

And be sure you understand you work on every holiday they could get their greedy hands on.
Little by little, they take pieces of our satisfaction away. They take our time away. Just waiting until they start breaking into our banks.

    Welcome to the new America.

    Advice to Management

Get educated or have experience in our department before you decide you know how to run it.

    Pros

The ability to work in a creative environment. The ability to grow within the company. Social connection benefits and connections. Promotes self development

    Cons

Rapid change over of crew due to growth in careers. Short run shows or residency of location. High demand occupations making it difficult to acquire a position.

I worked at Cirque du Soleil (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Very family oriented and some co-workers were nice. Free meal.

    Cons

Too many favoritism. Managers were incompetent. I witnessed a manager who didn't even bother to help an employee who was 8 months pregnant and was being yelled at the conference room by an irrational manager who also didn't even let her go to lunch. Company manager was informed of this activity and he didn't do anything about it. Complaints were made to HR but nothing happened. This company manager still has a job with this company.

    Advice to Management

Management really needs to get rid of incompetent managers. Many capable, competent people left this company over the past 8 years.

    Pros

Cirque is one of the largest entertainment companies in the world. There are few other places you can live and work for such solid wages and great benefits and work on such high quality productions.

    Cons

In recent years the company has been undergoing some changes from is humble beginnings as a collection of street performers into a large corporation. The transition has been disappointing and the company has started to move further and further away from its values of the employees being part of the "family".

    Advice to Management

Foster individuals that work hard and want to move up within the company. Be aware of nepotism and favoritism.
