I worked at Cirtec Medical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Collaborative, dynamic work environment. Great work-life balance. Opportunity to work on many different innovative R&D projects

    Cons

Offer free catered lunches? On-site gym? Seriously it's a great place to work. I have no real complaints.

    Advice to Management

Continue to promote from within and recognize strong talent.

I worked at Cirtec Medical full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Diverse type of projects and technologies, new facility.

    Cons

Cirtec managment is really bad at managing customers and projects and that shows because customers retention and satisfaction is poor. Key customers and employees have left the company out of frustration and burn out. Engineers and production personnel are overworked and over stress.Teams are constantly fight fires, lots of people pointing fingers and thrown under the bus by management. There is this also very frustrating bean counting system that you have to input every 15minutes your time with notes. People spend more time counting their hours than actually working. Pay and benefits are less than competitive as compare to market place.

I worked at Cirtec Medical full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The hourly staff was great. Very friendly and supportive of each other. This did not apply to management.
location in downtown Los Gatos is great. Lots of shopping and restaurants.
Nobody paid attention to your coming/going so there was too much freedom and lack of focus on the work.

    Cons

customer retention was nonexistent. There was no repeat customer business due to under-bidding to get business and implementing change order after change order.
Management had to refocus constantly to ensure the board was being paid.

    Advice to Management

focus on your employees and customers

    Pros

    - great project,
    - great people
    - good work environment
    - great work life balance
    - good benefits

    Cons

    - All Projects are contracts so there are less control over them, they come and go and you usually wont be aware of their market success.
    - very unstable / high employee turn over
    - employees are to log their work hours at the end of the week.

    Advice to Management

    - be more fair to clients. place some control so that project can be done more securely and wit tighter cost control

I worked at Cirtec Medical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great group of talented people. Projects varied which was interesting. Facility also had everything that you need to get stuff done.

    Cons

Wide variety of projects meant that team sometimes had to ramp up on knowledge fast. Without a big pocket behind the organization there were a lot of layoffs. It seemed like every week someone was getting axed, typically for something they did wrong. There was always pressure to bill the client 100% of your hours.

    Advice to Management

Stay in communication with employees. Acknowlege when you take on something that needs extra time to study and plan to pay for some employee ramp up for new technology.

    Pros

The people there are very friendly, easy to get along with and very helpful to anyone. Ask questions and someone will find you an answerer. They make everyone there feel like family, everyone helps each other, some talking goes on, you can have radios, MP3 at low power or you may use headphones. This is a wonderful place to be employed. I can't say enough good things about this place. All they expect from you is to do your job, due it the best that you can, good attendance, help each other.

    Cons

I don't recall having any cons with this company. Remember no place and no body is perfect, but this company does try.

    Advice to Management

Management will try making you comfortable working there, there great people.

I worked at Cirtec Medical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Occasionally there are very interesting projects to work on that really make a difference to patients. Location in Los Gatos, is a reverse commute. A big plus in Silicon Valley.

    Cons

All engineers are treated as expendable, replaceable, and interchangeable. It says a lot that a tiny company needs to have a full time recruiter on staff. A very high turnover rate means that clients are seeing different engineers and project managers on their team, which makes them uneasy. All work is billed by the hour, and engineers are encouraged to bill 40+ hours every week on their time sheet. Attempts have been made to change the business model and culture, but it remains a piecework factory atmosphere. No employee development at all. No conferences, seminars, or the like, unless personally paid. Required training is held over lunchtime to avoid using billable hours. Health Insurance package is the very minimal, high deductible, high premium variety.

    Pros

Turning the corner to becoming a really solid company. There were some rough times a few years back, but seem to have settled into some management that is doing a good job to focus on long term. The projects are generally very interesting, and the people are great.

    Cons

It can be stressful when you hit a lull, but I always seem to be busy.

    Advice to Management

Keep on a path to re-create the purpose/ identity of Cirtec. We need the refresh that is underway.

I have been working at Cirtec Medical full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

High caliber team with collaborative atmosphere. Opportunity to work on cutting edge medical device technologies. A company conscious of work/life balance. Greater job stability than start-ups.

    Cons

Cirtec does consulting for the medical device industry, so you get recognition for intellectual property you create for projects, but no ownership.
