I worked at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Big brand, easy to get customer engagement, broad product line, tons of resources, good career movement opportunities, global, good benefits, good PTO.

    Cons

Too much process, confusing, difficult to navigate or get support. They outsource IT support internationally, mostly India, and many times it is difficult just to communicate.

    Advice to Management

    Streamline

I worked at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Amazing people and partners. Good compensation and benefits. Work from home allows good work life balance. Although work is on 24/7

    Cons

No one is safe. Annual and sometimes semi annual layoffs with no way to predict if your on the chopping block other than being over 40 and at the mid-top of your pay grade. There is no loyalty anymore to its employees. People put in 10-15-20 years and get a 30 min call with their manager and they are let go. Gone are the days that John Chambers used to say that he wanted people to retire from Cisco... tell their kids and grandkids how they loved working at Cisco. Now its all about the shareholders.

    Advice to Management

Hiring "Early in career" maybe cheap in the short run but inexperience and young does not make for a success enterprise class solution.

I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great large company to work for especially in Tech.
Ton of resources and movement that happens in the company
    Family environment in most teams
    Solid corporate culture

    Cons

Early in Career strategy needs more focus
    Cloud strategy
Diversity strategy is causing a decrease in morale among employees of diversity.

    Advice to Management

Better on the job training for early in career would be highly encouraged. Not a clear level of expectation across the board. Employees across the same job get different levels of support or critique.

    Pros

great in work/life balance, culture and values are great, compensation benefits are normal I think they should improve.

    Cons

not that many internal opportunities and managers do not help promote your professional growth, strategy is great but it is taking long time to implement it

I have been working at Cisco Systems (More than a year)

    Pros

Great brand awareness. Ability to stay relevant over several decades. Mature company that values people.

    Cons

Highly "street" sensitive. Wants to push change and be the disruptor, but is stubborn to adjust when change is presented.

    Advice to Management

Support your sales force and make extra efforts not to disrupt the sales teams. So much account management responsibility and boxes to check for leadership – doesn’t leave much time to sell.
