    Pros

Cisco is a great place to have a career whether you are new in career or a seasoned pro.

    Cons

Driving out seasoned employees for a younger workforce; trading experience, long term relationships and productivity for less cost to the company.

    Advice to Management

Value your long time employees as they have the embedded relationships and know who to talk to to get things done quickly.

I worked at Cisco Systems as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Empowered Employees, transparent executive management are a definite plus. The ability to work from home is accomodating, too.

    Cons

Frequent layoffs and restructuring make for a lot of uncertainty. Adopting new technologies through acquisition is a good strategy but loyal employees are sometimes left behind. There are not enough activities promoting good work/life balance. Team-building events and tournaments (soccer, etc) could be helpful.

    Advice to Management

Try to provide more stability in order to put better confidence into employees. Improve sense of belonging trough better team-building activities. Provide better perks (snacks, etc i the break rooms).

I worked at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Cisco have very smart, nice, and helpful people to work with from coworkers to managers.
Best coworkers I ever worked with.
Cisco encourages you to learn and improve your skills.
You get new laptops every few years, which is really good, because some companies do not give workers the latest computers to use.
    Good work life/balance.

    Cons

Honestly, there is no down side working here except for the yearly layoffs.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

I worked at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, good benefits, remote work / work from home available. Fresh technology, equipment and fresh work spaces. Very comfortable place to work.

    Cons

Engineering led org with little experience design. Politics are ever present and must be navigated carefully. Depending where you are located you may have to report to the main campus with frequency depending on your situation.

I worked at Cisco Systems as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

The work environment is really good and fulfilling. With the break rooms and creativity rooms where you can go to cool your heads off. Depending on the group you are in at Cisco, you are in the "core" of computer networking.

    Cons

If you are in TAC for instance you will find yourself becoming a specialist in just one technology. However, this can also be viewed as a good thing.
