    Pros

Laser focus on customers-partners has always been embedded in the company's DNA.

    Cons

Constant layoffs- dismissing senior technical talent who are loved by their customers and/or are recognized in the industry; gross mis-steps in cloud; a toxic environment of fear has set into various organizations because of these sudden dismissals especially when the company is profitable. As one would assess a product for fair trade, I strongly believe the treatment of people should be a factor in determining whether or not one wishes to do business with the company. Should you work at the company -- go for a very very short ride only. As a shareholder - I am deeply concerned.

    Advice to Management

When you agree to such dismissals: be an example and depart first and/or ask for volunteers transparently. There is no People Deal -- it was broken sometime ago. Wearing jeans-dancing in the corridor insults the very people you wish to attract and retain. The company I once worked for has lost its way. Shame....

I worked at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You get to work with greatly talented people.
    Flexible work arrangements are good.

    Cons

The leadership team in IT is corrupt starting with the CIO. People are promoted for the most vague reasons. The claim they act with integrity till you find family relatives of the CIO working in her reporting chain. She actually continued to manage family members, who benefitted financially from outsourcing deals even after moving to her role as COO under new CEO. The new CIO is one of her watchdogs, who also is known to promote people based on racial agenda. He has no achievements and just a talking head. It is still Jacoby in the house with G keeping the status quo. They witch hunted many good people managers who were forced to leave.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of both the COO and CIO. Bring some of the great people managers who made this IT house great once.

I worked at Cisco Systems (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good fruits and snacks and milk

    Cons

Pathetic family consideration. Mothers cannot work from home even when the child is sick!!! They have plush mothers room but are not allowed to use it or rather do not use it as they track your moves! A company that does not respect mothers is not somewhere a lady can work!!! Hope Mr Robbins reads this!

    Advice to Management

Please understand human values and be humans!

    Pros

    * Challenges on a big scale

    Cons

    * Lots of it. They should have fired everyone with a manager/senior manager title.

    Advice to Management

    * You should sit and realize why companies far less your size (example Amazon) a few years ago have quadrupled in valuation, while you are stuck at 30$ a share.

I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I work in Cisco Security services, and the last 2 years have been horrible. This used to be a great company and great culture. The last 2 years over, great caring and capable managers have been replaced with newbies who operate without a care for employees and in lockstep with the new senior management.

Sadly, much of the senior management is now from places like Pepsi and sourcefire. These senior folks are dishonest, calculating and manipulative. They also have super fragile egos and fire people for simply knowing more than they do.

    Cons

Having Cisco on your resume used to be a huge strength. But nowadays it's becoming a liability in the job market. That combined with the annual summer picnic and layoff, it's become a truly bad place to work.

    Advice to Management

Fire no nothing management clowns who joined from Pepsi and think running Cisco Security Services is like running a soda-pop company. These clowns have destroyed Cisco Security Services and everyday, do more damage with their dishonesty and fragile egos.
