I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very good work/life balance, and flexibility to work from home. You are not tied to the clock as long as you show results. Lots of perks and Cisco branded freebies. Great benefits.

    Cons

Don't feel the job security that I felt when I first started. As technology changes and evolves, teams and priorities change = lots of lay offs.

    Advice to Management

Maintain a balance between keeping long-time employees with hiring fresh grads. Being surrounded by people who have been at Cisco for many years is more motivating than being surrounded by a bunch of newbies (or contractors) who have less company loyalty.

I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Strong company culture overall. Strong mobile working culture leading to a healthy work life balance. Generally very competent management in the UKI operation. Company benefits are excellent overall.

    Cons

Cisco is in a period of transition as it looks to remain relevant in todays market place. This means a lot of new acquisitions predominantly within the cloud compute space. This has led to a currently confusing and dynamically changing portfolio.
Career progression can be slow once you've reached a certain sales level within Cisco due to the corporate banding structure.

    Advice to Management

    Play the corporate game.
