I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Lot of Opportunities
    - Very good employee Policy
    - Possible to achieve work life balance

    Cons

    - Big Org , Things move slowly
    - Less Visibility to Decision making
    - Frequent Layoffs

    Advice to Management

Layoffs give very wrong signal to employees.

I have been working at Cisco Systems (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible on work hours and location. Good benefits like bonuses and training opportunities. Plenty of ways to get involved and contribute.

    Cons

Raise and promotion process is too opaque and inconsistent. Tendency to over plan. Too many meetings is typical.

    Advice to Management

Do not lean out strategic business ventures by slowly strangling out OpEx. That may be okay for cash cow BU's, but for emerging BU's, OpEx budgets should be going up to encourage increases in headcount and salaries, not the opposite.

I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

+ Kaiser coverage is really good. If you have a baby, Kaiser plan covers almost everything with very little out of pocket. I think we spent around $200 for everything from pre-natal to post delivery.
    + Bonuses are quite good.

    Cons

    - Salary pay is just ok.
    - Work load depends on group.

I have been working at Cisco Systems (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work and personal life is well balanced and technical stuff is good to learn latest technologies.

    Cons

Too many reorgs and management change

    Advice to Management

Try to reduce the reorgs and impact to employees

I worked at Cisco Systems (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good salary, lots of perks, although many are available in San Jose only. Depending on your interests, you can work on some new techmology

    Cons

If you are not in the central core business, you are at risk for a layoff. If you are not in San Jose, you will find your advancement opportunities limited. Heavily political with regards to advancement, everywhere.

    Advice to Management

Stop dumping staff when you stop a project - most of them are willing and able to learn the new skills needed in no time.

    Pros

    great company to work for

    Cons

    poor management in certain teams

    Advice to Management

Push the changes at the top all the way to the bottom. Management at lower levels needs a lot of clean up.

I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You have the ability to cease any opportunity and work through any and all area's that you are familiar with. This may sound impossible but if you can handle your core functions, there are many other area's that like to work cross-functionally to build relationships and drive initiatives globally.

    Cons

There really are not a lot of con's. Assuming you are willing to step up and be heard, there will be opportunities for you to grow and lead.

    Advice to Management

Keep on rockin!!! No complaints. Filling in 20 words now with the remaining sentence that I am currently typing.
