I have been working at Citi full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Good salary if you get into a team with high visibility
    - Work hours are moderately relaxed for most teams

    Cons

    - Forget about promotion if you don't play the politics game
    - Company lacks technical leadership
    - Code quality varies a lot between teams
    - Agile is not properly applied

    Advice to Management

You need to realise that developers are not costs but assets of the organisation.

I have been working at Citi full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Been here over 10 years working in technology .. it's been a good ride up till the last couple of years.. great people who are committed to change things. Great on the CV, but look around you.

    Cons

So much out sourcing going on and using vendors we are seeing skill gaps grow and end up being at the Bec and call of vendors who continue to talk fluff... The very senior people in CTI are so focused of saving $$ that people are now being left behind and SMT are so far away from the coal face, making people redundant with no evidence of reductions in Work loads... attitude from management to other people is to suck it up... we have see risk from vendors who have questions raised on how they do things...a ticking time bomb for audit fails... it's all about $$ saves and not people... and the senior management wonder why they get low scores on VOE ....

    Advice to Management

Stop reading about leadership... you are just a good bunch of managers who assume you are leaders because of your position..... know what your people do and get rid of this culture of double standards... it's been very disappointing to see that the tech part of Citi is so
Far behind the rest of the firm in culture and the way people are looked at for equal opportunity... can't wait to leave this place

I have been working at Citi full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great range of training, well known bank, good salary

    Cons

Hard for work life balance, poor management decisions on processes, promotions based on friendships as opposed to performance, less holidays than most European banks

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees more regarding implementation of processes especially when they do not make any sense and cost more time/money

I have been working at Citi full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great environment and teams to work with.

    Cons

Technology can be behind at times.
Senior management running the organisation with no clear vision except cost cutting and always hide behind their managers for not delivering.
Talent is not really rewarded, instead bureaucracy is.

    Advice to Management

    Start treating people with respect.

I have been working at Citi full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You work on every thing from A - Z in the project, so you get a lot of confidence and experience on a range of things in the tech world.

    Cons

Largely depends on the team you work. Poor management , lack of planning, favouritism. Very poor work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Hire the right amount of good candidates. Lot of the teams are understaffed and lead by people who are keen to achieve their personal bonus/promotion targets but deliver sub standard deliverables.
