    Pros

Good vacation days compared to other entry-level jobs. I got 17 vacation days and 6 sick days.

    Cons

I worked here for 2 years straight out of college (Ivy League) and was enrolled in one of their analyst programs. This program was misrepresented on college recruitment presentations and made much more glamorous than it actually is. Most of us were placed in positions within the firm that required the intelligence/ability equal to that of the highschool level. You don't need a college degree to do 99% of the mundane work...at least not an ivy league education!

    Advice to Management

Some managers are extremely incompetent in a leadership role. Nasty attitudes abound. Get ready to be treated like a second class citizen

    Pros

Reputable company-looks good on your resume. A few years before the company started to decline, they had a good work life balance system (6 1/2 day Fridays or 3 whole day Fridays in the summer, birthday off, shopping day in winter). Depending on your department, managers encouraged professional development.

    Cons

Extremely political. At the top, promotions based on who is in the clique. Citi has a "throw you under the bus type of culture." Depending on the department you are in, it could be a dead end area where there is no room for advancement or growth. Senior managers at times take all of the credit for the work being done without acknowledging the ones who are processing the work, ie, "the work horses." Senior managers have no real sense of acknowledging true talent in the company.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the managers whose claim to fame are that they have been with the company for years without offering any real insight on how to improve things today. What worked in 1990 and 2000 will not work in 2010. Managing with an iron fist and by intimidation will not give you the respect you need to run a successful team. Value the workers on the bottom who are actually the ones churning out the work. Give them the information necessary to do their jobs. Invite them to senior meetings if they are working on a project. Include them in the audit meetings if it is their file or case the auditors are reviewing.

    Pros

You can get paid while you are looking for another job

    Cons

80% outsourced to India consultants in IT
No one in management knows anything about IT
Every employee is out to back stab each other
    Good workers are layed off

    Advice to Management

Stop shipping every US job except executives to India
Pay attention to the people who work at the company don't just lie to them

    Pros

alot of paid time off, enjoy working with peers. good hours!!

    Cons

not very positive enviroment, no one knows whats going on, ever!!! you try your hardest but its never good enough for them. you fail your calls for the dumbest reasons!!!!!! no incentives ever, they make it to where you can never get incentives. you get to the point with this job, you want to give up.

    Advice to Management

be more positive. if i ever got feedback from a manager with something positive and not negative, i would be shocked. they always have to find something to bring you down, something we could have said or done differently in our calls. even though we did really good. one question i hate during one on ones when listening to calls....so "what could you have said differently or done" are you kidding me???? no matter what we say you will always find something wrong!

    Pros

    pay was good for performance

    Cons

massive entagled mess that cant service its clients. Its amazing this thing is still running! Management is inept at taking suggestions for improvement calling the status quo "the citi way" as an excuse not to change.

    Advice to Management

Be flexible and willing to learn from those who do the job everyday.

    Pros

The vacation time (the issue was being able to take it) was awesome, the health benefits extremely reasonably priced. Lots of small perks, like discount theatre tickets.

    Cons

Salaried........no comp time, no overtime, and a boss who thought you weren't doing your job if you left on time. Absolutely no checks and balances. Manager was allowed to run roughshod over the employees, insisted on pagers being answered 24/7, even if you weren't on call. Both myself and another guy hired at the same time, quit after 6 months. HR was aware there was an issue--during my exit interview, she reiterated over and over that "you can come back and work in another department!". Constant "rah-rah" meetings of upper management were enough to make anyone go nuts.

    Advice to Management

    Pay attention to employee morale.

    Pros

The pay is the only reason someone should subject themselves to the horrible work environment.

    Cons

There are very few promotions of women and most women who work with mostly men are treated horribly. Horrible job well done recognition. Good luck finding a fair manager to work for.

    Advice to Management

End the promotions of all the "manager's buddies."
    Clean up all Senior Management.
Actually train your people instead of letting them fail at their job and instead of hiring new people to replace the ones you let fail.
