I worked at Citi full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of training across multiple jurisdictions, wide alumni network that comes in handy at later stages in a career, exposure to multiple bank verticals

    Cons

Reviews skewed towards views of immediate line managers rather than true 360
views (which at times is great but at others can damage juniors), highly bureaucratic

    Advice to Management

Given the investment in analyst/associate training, some MD's should take better care of junior resource rather than accept that the best move on to other places

Able to rise up in ranks if driven enough.

    Good work life balance.

    Cons

Same as every big banks, bureaucracy. Sometimes too policy driven lost focus on value add delivery

    Advice to Management

Less bureaucracy. more focus on technical expertise and value engineering excellence more, in 'real' senses.

I have been working at Citi full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very good company and very good work environment in the Internal Audit department. Salaries are good although not excellent compared to the market.

    Cons

Sometimes you feel like it's too big and humans relationships are managed poorly. There are no bonuses in Internal Audit. Career mobility is not good.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in people technical development. People is what matter the most and requires constant attention from the management.

I worked at Citi (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice office, on-site restaurant and gym, quality office chairs, pleasant people

    Cons

I worked there for over 3 years, was respected, well liked and and enjoyed my job - however I was never offered a permanent role and as such needed to move on. Extensive background check, even for freelance roles. Long hours.

    Advice to Management

commit to hiring good people, make any freelance role that lasts over two years a perm role

I worked at Citi full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people, Global scope, variety and plenty of opportunity to progress if you are open to it and/or work hard to prove yourself.

    Cons

Very short term approach on decision making, in Technology there's too much focus on location strategy and cost savings with quality and employee loyalty suffering.

    Advice to Management

Specifically in London and other high cost locations, be honest and open with your employees regarding planned redundancies. Don't say one thing and do another.

I have been working at Citi full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

enjoy the people at Citi, I have also progressed rather quickly which has also been a pro and had 2 promotions within 2 years at the firm

    Cons

work life balance can struggle at certain times of the year, I dont believe the pay is up to standard for an investment bank, even if Belfast is a 'low cost' area.

    Advice to Management

Compensate your staff fairly, keep a work life balance in mind and also dont go easy on people that slack and make others pick up their work

Global and proud of it, at Citi there are many talented people from a wide variety of countries, making it a diverse environment within which to learn.

    Cons

As with many large institutions, suffers from bureaucracy and over-burdened with regulation, making it tough to get business done.

    Pros

Great culture, the people, very diverse, not too stressful, great work/life balance

    Cons

pay not as high as the other US banks, some departments feel like the goverment in that there is stagnation and people not carrying their weight that sort of thing

    Pros

    Some great people working there

    Cons

No formal on the job training - gave brief finance and IT training but irrelevant and basic

    Advice to Management

Invest more in staff - don't assume peers will just automatically share knowledge especially on complex trading issues
