I have been working at Citizens Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

9-5 working hours in practice. You can Work from home on occasion. My boss is pretty fun to work for.

    Cons

IT is the worst in any firm I've ever worked in. There is also no orientation program, so it's you're pretty much on your own from day one. Bonuses are not given to anyone the first year, regardless of when you start (e.g. if you start in January, your first bonus will be awarded after 27 months).

    Advice to Management

Invest in IT, more than the current level. A lot more.

I worked at Citizens Bank full-time

    Pros

Stable company, consumer finance area very focused on growth, potential to work remotely, solid benefits and pay.

    Cons

There are a lot of long-tenured employees who are set in their ways and unwilling to perform functions outside of their day-to-day; company portrays an image of technological strength and nimbleness, but this is a bank after all.

    Advice to Management

Reshuffling the 'lifers' out of their comfort zone would give those people an opportunity to grow and gain a broader perspective on how the bank can be successful.

I worked at Citizens Bank (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great company to start and build a career out of. As long as you are motivated and have a desire to learn, you can be very successful, both financially and in career advancement.

    Cons

To much micro management in terms of sales procedures. A blanket sales "technique" is given to employees who MUST follow that technique.

    Advice to Management

Learn your individual employees strengths and weaknesses and try to let them do what they do best in order to be successful.

I worked at Citizens Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good careers growth and opportunities, Great leaders and colleagues, Convenient work locations, Good benefits, and communication. Good pay compared to others,

    Cons

Benefits are not that attractive for the size of the bank and the number of employees, Big time lack in technology systems, Micro Management from Regional Managers. Lots of politics in the career advancement. To advance in a career you need a connection. Bank hires from outside more often. HR don't follow-up with internal applicants in a reasonable time.

    Advice to Management

Limit Micro-managing managers and all non-manager colleagues. Reply and allow internal applicants the chance to interview before proceeding with new applicants. Have the Regional Manager lead by example. If they can't sell, help their short staffs, and support their team when needed, they should stop looking at their branches as Profit/Loss cases, instead look at them as your colleagues. HR stand up for colleagues against some of the few Regional Management bullyings. Stop focusing on sales and instead focus on your employees and customers and the sales will follow.
