I worked at Citrix full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and fair salaries. Work very challenging with really smart people. Company facing interesting challenges as it works to evolve in a very competitive environment.

    Cons

There is Way too much instability and change. Strategy has become less clear as time went on. Now less focused on people.

I worked at Citrix full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Generally good colleagues
    - Work from anywhere culture
    - Good work/life balance
    - Strong company brand and awareness
    - Still one of the best tech companies in South Florida

    Cons

    - Constant churn in management (4 CEOs in 3 years) and regular mass-layoff events
    - Little to no real innovation
    - Microsoft shadow over the company; any new innovation is subject to being killed if asked to by the Redmond godfathers
    - Not a very interesting company relative to others in the SF Bay area.

    Advice to Management

    - Create and articulate a coherent and innovative strategy. Simply saying the word "Cloud" over and over is not a strategy, nor is it a coherent message.
    - Split up the company further to liberate employees and deliver more value to shareholders. The GoTo spinoff has been successful. You should do more of this with other businesses within the company that are are held back because they are part of Citrix.
    - Stop buying innovative companies and technologies, and then kill them or let them wither on the vine.

I worked at Citrix (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Citrix was a great company when I first started working for them. Even though they had just crossed a billion $ in revenue, is still felt like startup with a roll-up-your-sleeves, get stuff done-kind of attitude. Over the years, it started to feel like a the bigger company that it had become but it was still a good company with great people. Mark Templeton was a very down-to-earth kind of leader that you couldn't help but like and get behind.

    Cons

Somewhere along the way, Citrix lost it's way a little. If began to hire people from much larger companies who brought others with them from those big companies and completely changed the culture. Lots of good folks left. Don't know what it's like to work there now but I certainly enjoyed my time there, especially in the early years.

I worked at Citrix (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good products, excellent working conditions, remote offices allowed

    Cons

Company has lost their vision and was taken over by an activist hedge fund which is now dismantling the company.

I worked at Citrix full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are pretty good, medical coverage costs for employees have risen pretty consistently over last 3 years and they have forced most into high-deductible plans with HSA so you may consider this a con or a pro but overall the benefits are pretty good. Some of the new directions are positive and look promising for possible growth.

    Cons

Stock options at Director level and above have dropped significantly and in 2015 they yanked away performance based stocks only to give everyone else in the company a 2% bonus. New management is trying to turn the ship but the rudder still has some issues. Product quality still plagues many of the products - engineering does not know what it means to build a non-IT product for customers that demand stability and reliability.

    Advice to Management

Clean house with your lame ducks in top sales roles and maybe the organization will move forward

I worked at Citrix full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - feels like a true tech company
    - great perks including food and drinks
    - pay is reasonably good
    - willing to spend money on good ideas/ solutions

    Cons

    - no work / life balance
    - constant cronyism
    - most parts of leadership are pretty weak
    - middle management is horrible

    Advice to Management

Need to weed out those people in management and junior executive leadership that is holding the company back. There are many great things that just aren't exploited.
