I have been working at Citrix full-time

    Pros

Decent salary and perks. Amazing Paid time off policy. You get 4 weeks for a new hire. After 5 years in the company, one more is added. We have 4 months of maternity/ paternity leave ( fully paid ). Kitchen is stocked with healthy snacks. Free bagels every Friday.

Citrix really encourages to switch roles and teams within the company which is very healthy for career growth.

    Cons

As I said in the summary, it really depends on the team that you join. There are some teams still grappling with legacy code, without any inclination to address the tech debt and hiring new developers with low standards.

Promotions are not always fair. Some of the managers are neither technical nor good leaders. Not sure how they ended up in that role.

I have been working at Citrix full-time

    Pros

Good life/ work balance. Decent benefits and the people want to help if you ask them.

    Cons

Not really committed to cloud/ feel we have time to get there at our own pace. Conflict between direct sales and channel means we don't optimize either. Ft. Lauderdale HQ means people stay with company too long and it is tough to challenge status quo.

    Advice to Management

Revamp exec management in sales and bring in outsiders.

Great benefits, excellent office and location, and good people and overall culture.. Lots of opportunity to grow and learn.

    Advice to Management

    Quality over quantity.

I worked at Citrix full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is good if you don't mind giving up your social life. Young atmosphere basically continuation of a frat party, if you're into that. Looks good on resume. Great training regular happy hours. Good benefits. If you're ready to work your butt off it's a good place. But be aware 90% of your starting class won't make it.

    Cons

Management change meant a lot of perks went away and pay become far less lucrative. For new people not a big deal since they know nothing else but it sucked for the people caught in the middle. They also treat everyone like a number and have a HIGH turnover rate. Only take this job if you are willing to work HARD and just want it for a year or two on your resume.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to position the company for a buy out and actually take care of your employees. You will hit better numbers by appreciating them than trying to work them to death.

    I worked at Citrix full-time

    Pros

Great atmosphere, with a fun and energetic culture. Love the perks like free bagels on Wednesday and bikes to get around campus and nearby for lunch or shopping. Also having an onsite gym with trainers available was a great added benefit. The cafe made long days easy with good breakfast and lunch options as well when you just can't get out of the office for more than a quick bite.

    Cons

Lots of changes happening very quickly with upper management made some of the expectations confusing, and caused a lot of stress. Sometimes it felt like we were making up the rules every day, but somehow we managed to get actual work done.

    Advice to Management

Be clear and decisive with your teams, and stop changing things every few months. People need stability. Agile is a great work method, but it should apply to projects not employment status.

    Pros

Work/Life balance is great. This is to be expected with a company that says you can work from anywhere. If they honor that motto, It's really good.

    Cons

Complete shifts of business model and constant fear of being laid off. Citrix became a company that only cares about numbers, and neglects customer requirements and technological needs.

    Advice to Management

Stop being a number chaser and produce a good product and experience. Remember that market needs and requests feed business. Listen to your customers and employees rather than trying to shape the market to your own business model. Manipulating numbers will only temporarily make your job worthwhile.

I worked at Citrix full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most of the leadership (VP & above) are pretty good! They genuinely care of their employees. They can do a lot, if they start listening to atleast 2 -3 levels down. Good talent available and if all of them work together, we can do a lot!

    Cons

HR always stands by the business, they are scared of the management and always do what the management wants them to do. No employee relations team to investigate issues. So if you have an issue don't go to HR, period!

    Advice to Management

With new management, lets ensure there is no politics & no favorites. Take a decision with all parties in the room and don't make a decision in your room listening to your people who have your ear, you might not know what they are actually upto.

Retain your employees who are doing well, give them more money and take care of them rather than transferring employees from other global locations, even when there is no gap in the talent locally, they are transferred and paid more only because their manager likes them and that is not benefiting the team. It cuts down on more salary you can give other team members during the merit cycle. Rather than saying no budget you can take care of your employees this way. Lets not play the favorites game and start with good pay for good performance. Hope you are listening!
