I have been working at Citrix

    Pros

citrix has been an industry leader for over 2 decades and now facing for the first time some real competition has awaken the fighting spirit within the company leading us to great advancements in the virtualization field.

    Cons

some middle-management politics can be found, but rarely.

    Advice to Management

stream line and align teams that are working on cutting edge solutions. emphasize the extremely well created products and focus less in meaningless marketing campaigns.

I have been working at Citrix

    Pros

Great benefits, some really talented and competent coworkers. The promise that Citrix will someday live up to the reputation it aspires to.

    Cons

An Upper management and executive team who are completely out of touch with how they and middle management are perceived by the rank and file. There are no standardized expectations for the employees so it is very hard to know if what you are doing every day really aligns with your department or corporate goals. As a very long time employee I can safely say morale is at an all time low.

    Advice to Management

Change the focus from appearing to care about employee and customer satisfaction to actually taking the time to find out why they are not satisfied and doing something about it. Yes, this is a business with shareholders and a board of directors to answer to but when "layoffs" are used by certain directors as an excuse to clean house based on a personal vendetta it changes the whole dynamics for the workplace. This being a software company means that most of the technical staff, from engineering to support, are not equipped to play political strategy games with their livelihoods.

    I worked at Citrix

    Pros

Many new technology directions, opportunities for learning are abound. Company seems to visionary in some technology areas with good direction.

    Cons

Very poor political environment. Benefits and HR personnel are very underqualified and unprofessional. Little or no supervision of the middle management and younger employees. Extreme amounts of personal conflicts in the office space.

    Advice to Management

Provide career advancement to new, performing middle managers. Change the old boy mentality of the company. Provide more guidance and scope to younger employees.

    I worked at Citrix

    Pros

Cool technology Great market Good aquisitions Great CEO from vision standpoint Remote working capability Large customer base Excellent partner program

    Cons

With everything said above. Citrix has one major issue which affects every other area of the company. Almost their entire middle management minus the CEO have come from an aquisition 9 years ago. They are a clique that all other employees are excluded from and only promote from within. This is a virus that permeates the whole organization. They are completly unqualified for the positions they are in. This is not a rant, just a fact. I did not work for one of these managers, just an observer.

    Advice to Management

CEO is the best visionary CEO in technology and his ratings show it. But, he is also responsible for the operations side and does not seem to be managing what is going on throughout his management structure.

I have been working at Citrix

    Pros

Great people and great software projects. Employees are empowered to take on tough challenges and trusted to do a great job. Company is working hard on creating a successful transition from a small start up to a bigger business. The projects are exciting and almost everyone is working on something interesting. Compensation seems very fair.

    Cons

Some of the middle management have no people skills. Upper management seems to have a disconnect with some of the middle management skills. More flexible work options would be nice. Some of the technical knowledge is not spread out enough. Too few people know about some things.

    Advice to Management

Managers need people skills and execution skills. People skills are overlooked.

    Pros

Local management are very approachable and easy to work with. Colleagues also very easy to work with. Good facilities (Recently renovated) and great benefits. Work is always interesting and provides constant learning.

    Cons

High support staff turnover leads to constant on the job 1-1 training, making it less efficient. Middle management care too much about stats and metrics than staff morale. High and constant pressure to succeed.

    Advice to Management

Listen to staff, try also provide opportunities for further improvement to keep staff motivated.

I have been working at Citrix full-time

    Pros

Flexible work, market leading technology, generous with T&E, well renovated offices and BYOD program.

    Cons

Little focus innovation, resting on laurels, poor middle management, unstability due to frequent leadership changes, acquisitions poorly executed or bad fit, HR lacks transparency, commoditized technology that does not fit into Customers’ roadmap or vision, and flimsy cloud strategy. Still struggling to find the next big thing.

    Advice to Management

Innovate to excite; simply rebranding point solutions isn’t working. Customers not buying into the Citrix Cloud story. Poor marketing simply does not lend to mindshare and awareness.
