I worked at Citrus Memorial Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fellow nurses, for the most part, were awesome! It was the best part of working there. Nurse to patient ratio 6:1. Acuity was not factored into patient load.

    Cons

Management. Pay. Always seemed to be short staffed. CNA's were usually left with half the floor (20 pts) and nurses with their full loads would have to pick up the slack. Left for unsafe conditions for the patients.

    Advice to Management

Treat you people with respect! Be fair, do not play favorites, give timely evaluations, always do exit interviews so that you might learn how to improve your management techniques to increase overall employee satisfaction and retention.

    Pros

Fellow employees and great people who care about patients. Most of the employees are respectful of each other and in most cases put the patients as a top priority.

    Cons

It is overwhelming at times with the limitations on resources. Sometimes the pressure is very high to work faster and management doesn't realize that it could open us up for mistakes that could effect patient care. Much of oue equipment is 10+ years old and it is hard to get it replaced with newer and more modern equipment.

    Advice to Management

You should more proactive instead of reactive when it comes to technology. Many of the decisions made are made by people who have no idea what is necessary to do a good job with quality being a priority. It feels sometimes like money is the most important thing when it should be patient care.

    Pros

Great benefits package and time off.

    Cons

Management is adverse to change. Very narrow-minded when it comes to new, challenging ideas.

    Advice to Management

Take suggestions and ideas from your mid- and low- level staff. Don't assume you know everything.

I worked at Citrus Memorial Hospital (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed working for Citrus Memorial. I live in the area and the location was convenient. The ICU night staff were congenial.

    Cons

I worked night shift. When this no longer met my needs, I could not switch to days although I had worked at this facility many years.

    Advice to Management

Management was in a transitional state and this contributed to the inability to transition from a night to a day position.

  10. Pros

    The people I worked with

    Cons

    Patients are their last priority

    Advice to Management

Get rid of them this isn't factory work. It's people's lives we deal with
